Join the LCI DFW Community of Practice in an exciting presentation focused on Takt Planning. Ryan Tingey, LEED AP BDC, from Turner Construction Company is focused on Takt implementation across his company. Ryan will review what Takt is, the benefit of Takt over conventional scheduling models, provide real life examples from projects across the country and amongst numerous different contractors. Metrics and studies will be shared for the business case for Takt Planning.
One of the biggest problems in construction, and a major contributor to chaos, stress, missed deadlines, and overspending, is the lack of flow on our projects. What if we told you one of our industry standards, CPM scheduling, is the main contributor? CPM scheduling operates on an early-start, early-finish algorithm with varied durations that destabilize the schedule and disrupt flow. This destabilization creates constant start-stop throughout the parade of trades that hurts the project with time delays and cost. We throw money at the problem and create stress across all parties to get to the finish line, and oftentimes the pressure increases the risk of safety incidents. It is a widely accepted expectation that projects get more stressful and chaotic the closer we get to the finish date. That is because we are operating on a broken system.
Fortunately, there is a proven way out of this mess called Takt, and it works like magic. By prioritizing flow above all else, Takt reduces the long hours and stress so common in our industry. We’ll show you why flow matters and how Takt harnesses it to improve every aspect of construction.
