We partnered with Nevada Legal Services and placed over 30 pro bono cases during the 2024 Family Law Conference. Thank you so much to everyone who took on a new case at this wonderful event from the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Nevada! We're also very grateful to all the judges who helped us, including Judge Henderson, Judge Gordon, Judge Rocheleau, and Judge McConnell.

Applications are now open for the Community Justice Fellowship, sponsored by Paul Padda Law. Legal Aid Center awards this one-year fellowship to a law student graduate, outgoing judicial law clerk, or attorney with less than three years of postgraduate legal experience who wants to work in a public interest law firm and learn how we assist over 187,000 Nevadans a year. The fellow rotates through our project areas and gets exposed to all areas of practice, from interviewing vulnerable clients to final resolution. Details: https://lnkd.in/giiuSWzQ

Last week, the City of Las Vegas City Council unanimously approved the entitlements to build Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada's Advocacy & Justice Complex! This first-of-its-kind service campus will allow us to expand our ability to help more vulnerable people, victims of crime, and families facing legal crises—in one central location.

Next Tuesday will mark seven years since the horrific tragedy at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on October 1, 2017. There are a number of efforts and activities throughout the community that our staff at the Resiliency & Justice Center will be attending and supporting. #VegasStronger The center has been fostering recovery and connections since it was created in the immediate aftermath of 1 October, then known as the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center. Though its name has changed and its mission has expanded to serve more survivors of violent crime, the Resiliency & Justice Center is still here for anyone impacted by 1 October and those they love. To learn about upcoming remembrance events and available services, visit ResiliencyAndJustice.org.

The State Bar of Nevada's 2024 Section Pro Bono Challenge encouraged 184 lawyers to take on 154 cases and volunteer for 334 Ask-A-Lawyer or Lawyer in the Library sessions! The challenge also raised $4,200 for us and other legal aid providers in Nevada. We're so grateful to all the participants—many of whom were recognized at this month's Sections Luncheon—for their incredible contributions!
