If a student doesn't have a parent to support them, our Volunteer Education Advocates step in. To volunteer, you don't need any legal experience - we provide training and support. Our Clean Slate Legal Assistance Program and community partners were able to help over 140 deserving people get a second chance at our criminal record sealing event last week! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this second annual event a success, including Clark County Commissioners Tick Segerblom and William McCurdy II, Nancy Lemcke and John Piro of Clark County Public Defender's Office, and Judges Belinda Harris, Carli Kierny, and Jasmin Lilly-Spells.

We're offering free legal assistance to small business owners next Tuesday at West Charleston Library. We'll cover patents, copyrights, and other intellectual property issues. Attendees can also meet with attorneys for one-on-one consultations. Thanks to SCORE Mentors and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District for working with us on this and other upcoming seminars.

Congratulations to the Pro Bono Project's latest Attorney of the Month—Saira Haseebullah of Kelleher & Kelleher! After graduating from the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada-Las Vegas clerking for the Honorable Judge Frank Sullivan, Saira became interested in dependency law, taking pro bono cases to represent children. She feels lucky to be at a firm that encourages her to volunteer with Legal Aid Center. Saira says pro bono work is one of the few areas where what is being protected, a relationship between families and helping children, can't be replaced with any amount of money. We're so thankful to have Saira as a volunteer attorney and are honored to name her our Pro Bono Attorney of the Month!
