  • As of 8:30 this morning, there are over 3 million people without power in Florida as a result of #HurricaneMilton. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the storm as well as the first responders working non-stop to provide aid to those who need it most. And to our Lewis crews in the thick of things for the second time in as many weeks – stay strong, stay safe. #PowerON #Utilities #JobDoneRight #Heroes *Photo via https://hubs.ly/Q02SWpw10

  • Here we go again... As residents are evacuating the Tampa area ahead of Hurricane Milton's predicted midweek landfall, our forces are traveling in to lend even more support to our crews already on the ground. If these hurricanes won't let up, neither will we–not when our utility partners are counting on us and other utility vegetation management companies to help them get the power back on for their customers. We're here for you, Florida. Stay safe! #SafetyFirst #PowerON #HurricaneMilton #StormRestoration #Utilities

#HispanicHeritageMonth #Diversity #EmployeeOwners

  • Eight days ago . . . it wasn't like this in Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and elsewhere. On Thursday night, September 26, #HurricaneHelene came barreling in and scattered trees, power lines, homes, and entire communities onto the ground like the pieces of a puzzle. Since then, our Lewis crews and tens of thousands of other first responders from tree companies, utilities, municipalities, states, and NGOs have been working tirelessly to come to the aid of people stricken by this disaster. These jobs are tough, and the conditions are challenging, but working with a #safetyfirst approach for everyone involved, we are making progress as you can tell from the outage numbers and news reports. To the Lewis team members on the ground, at the home office, and in the homes of their families, words cannot express our awe and appreciation for what you do. #PowerON #Teamwork #Utilities #JobDoneRight

  • #HurricaneHelene has produced so many incredible numbers, it's stunning. https://hubs.ly/Q02RQTnX0 Millions of people without power. Thousands of broken poles, miles of downed power lines, and fallen trees. Tens of thousands of linemen and tree workers and other first responders working around the clock on recovery and restoration. Billions of dollars in damages. 42 trillion gallons of rain. For Lewis, two numbers matter most. 165 and 100. 165 is the reported number of lives lost as of this post due to this storm across its wake of destruction - and the number of missing persons is still in the hundreds. We recognize that there is no recovery or restoration that will bring these loved ones back, and we grieve with their families and friends. 100 is the level of commitment - as in 💯 percent - that the 1,200+ Lewis workers directly involved in restoration work are giving along with ALL of the over 4,000 members of the Lewis family to support each other, our customers, their communities, and the industry. 100% committed to safety. 100% committed to service. 100% committed to each other and our utility partners. Nothing less. #safetyfirst #poweron #teamwork #service

  • Say hello to Nallely Villa, an Assistant GF who's been with Lewis for 5 years. Her career at Lewis started out as a summer job, but the work obviously grew on her. She says she enjoys working outdoors and the variety her position offers her, saying, "I feel like I've never had the same day twice." Nallely believes celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month makes people feel seen. It gives people the opportunity to learn about Hispanic culture and dispel some of the myths and stereotypes they may be holding. "It's nice to have everyone acknowledge your culture. Not just what they think of your culture, but what your culture truly is," she says. What's another way to make people feel seen and respect their culture? Taking the time to learn how to properly pronounce someone's name. Nallely says a lot of times, a person's name is tied to their identity. Going the extra mile to say their name correctly can show them you care. If she could invite any celebrity, icon, or influential person of Hispanic descent to dinner, it would have to be civil rights activist Cesar Chavez. Nallely says she'd enjoy picking his brain about his concept of the American Dream and his work unionizing farm workers. #HispanicHeritageMonth #Diversity #EmployeeOwners

  • The Leadership in Action principle "Do What You Say You're Going to Do" may seem simple, but for Technical Training Manager Bret Kent, it's anything but. It's a foundational piece of building trust within a team and staying true to our commitment to the success of our customers and the communities we serve. "When we don't follow up on what we've pledged to do, the consequences can be significant," Bret says. We recently sat down with Bret to talk about his unconventional journey into the tree industry, his passion for safety, and his commitment to staying true to his word.
