Over the past 12 weeks, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the LGBT+ VC Fellowship, a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of venture capital and its potential to foster diversity and inclusion. During this journey, I engaged in thought-provoking speaker events, hands-on assignments, and enriching weekly sessions that challenged me to think critically about how venture capital can be a force for positive change. One of the most memorable moments was traveling to New York City, where I attended the Prosperity Summit hearing speeches by leading LGBTQ+ activists and venture capitalists, and even spoke at the Summit. Sharing my experiences as a queer individual from the South on stage resonated deeply with many and led to profound conversations about overcoming imposter syndrome and finding one's voice in a male-dominated industry. I also cherished the chance to connect with the inspiring LGBT+ VC legal advisory board over lunch, where I learned invaluable lessons about resilience and authenticity. I am incredibly grateful to Jackson B. and everyone at LGBT+ VC for their mentorship, guidance, and support. Jackson, your belief in me has been a catalyst for my growth, and I am thankful for the incredible network of peers and mentors I’ve connected with during this fellowship.
