Mission: Working together to save lives through organ and tissue donation

About us

LifeCenter Northwest is one of the 56 federally-designated nonprofit organ procurement organizations (OPOs) in the United States. LifeCenter Northwest saves and enhances lives by facilitating the recovery of organs and tissues in Alaska, Montana, northern Idaho and Washington. By educating the community about the need and the importance for people to register their donation wishes, we hope to help the 100,000+ people waiting for a transplant in the United States. Mission LifeCenter Northwest is dedicated to saving and enhancing lives through the recovery of organs and tissues for transplant. At just 3 days old, Mila was diagnosed with Peters’ Anomaly, a rare congenital eye condition. Her parents, Megan and Luke, were told Mila would likely never see anything more than shadows in her right eye and that her left eye had no hope of gaining sight. Just shy of a month old, Mila was seen by a specialist who offered her a more hopeful prognosis. At 4 months old, Mila received a successful cornea transplant in her left eye. She now has vision in that eye with the help of corrective glasses. “We thought Mila would never see our faces. Now, she smiles at us and laughs at our funny faces! It was absolutely amazing to see her vision improve following her cornea transplant — it gave our family so much hope!” 💙💚

Happy #BRADay! That's Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day, and we're sharing Simone's story to bring attention to the healing power of donated tissue grafts. Simone's sister died following a long battle with breast cancer. Concerned about her own health, Simone scheduled a mammogram and later learned she was also positive for the BRCA gene mutation, so she took preventative action. Simone underwent three surgeries — a bilateral mastectomy, oophorectomy and a hysterectomy. As a registered donor herself, Simone is grateful for the gift of tissue donation that provided her with the opportunity to receive breast reconstruction surgery. While statistics show that Black women are less likely to take breast cancer screenings or cancer prevention measures, Simone advises all women to act. “Taking preventative measures reminded me that I did have an option, and I want others to know that too," says Simone. #breastcancerawarenessmonth #donatelife

This is the story of Antonio Espinoza, a generous and kind man, whose life-saving gifts as an organ donor provided connection and healing for his grieving family. Antonio's family made the choice to donate his organs, and this decision is changing the hearts and minds of so many others who may not have considered organ donation for themselves. Antonio's gift and his family's compassion started this ripple effect and their community is stronger for it. Learn more about organ and tissue donation on our website at lcnw.org. I miss my dad more than words can express, but I'm so proud he was able to give the gift of life to 4 people. Thank you for the continued support and keeping my dad's name alive." —Kennedy, donor family member Our life-saving work would not be possible without the selfless gifts of our donors and their families. Please know that all of us here at LifeCenter Northwest understand that it is a privilege to serve our communities by stewarding the #giftoflife.
