More than just lights on a bridge
About us
Lighting up Milwaukee's Hoan Bridge daily starting at sunset. Open to the public. One of Milwaukee's 7 Wonders. ABOUT LIGHT THE HOAN: A collective of local business and civic leaders, Light the Hoan is a committee of the Daniel Hoan Foundation. In May 2018, the group launched a public crowdsourcing campaign to help raise more than $3.5 million to illuminate the Daniel Hoan Memorial Bridge, the iconic tied-arch bridge spanning nearly two miles across Interstate 794. Congratulations to our partner, Visit Milwaukee, for reaching an incredible milestone—1,000 partners! At Light the Hoan, we recognize the power of collaboration towards a common goal. Visit Milwaukee’s commitment to fostering lasting partnerships not only supports our mission, but also contributes significantly to the city’s growth as a vibrant destination. Together, we’re working to elevate Milwaukee and enhance the quality of life for all its residents. Thank you Visit Milwaukee for your continued support and dedication to our city! #visitmilwaukee #milwaukee #wisconsin #lightthehoan
I am extremely excited to share that for the first time in Visit Milwaukee's history, we officially have 1,000 partners! This is a testament to our community's belief in the economic impacts tourism can provide and our entire team's efforts in helping create strong partnerships in our community. As our CEO Peggy Williams-Smith always says: "we are all partnership." And she's right! Everyone at Visit Milwaukee plays a role in these partnerships every day. It's crazy to think back to when I started at Visit Milwaukee nearly four years ago, we only had 560 partners. I am so appreciative that Meg McKenna took a chance on me, an outsider to the hospitality industry, to help rebuild our partnership base after the pandemic and make it stronger than ever before. And now with the support of Joshua Albrecht over the past year, we have become an organization that can serve both the smallest businesses to the largest businesses in the city and everyone in between. None of this would be possible without Maria Strand, the rock of the partnership team who has been there every step of the way. And last, but certainly not least, thank you to our 1,000 partners and counting who work with us each and every day, helping to make Milwaukee a top place to live, work, and visit. Working at Visit Milwaukee has been such a dream and I look forward to seeing what else we can accomplish in the months and years ahead! https://lnkd.in/g8q7NAS8

Celebrating #WorldPolioDay in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Last night, we lit up the Hoan Bridge in purple with local Rotary clubs to celebrate Rotary International's 39th World Polio Day! Why Purple? During National Immunization Days, kids have a pinky finger marked with purple ink that lasts for 30 days, to ensure they are not vaccinated more than once. World Polio Day is a time all of us who want a world free from polio to come together and recognize our progress in the fight to end polio. Since 1988, we've seen a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9%. We are *this close* to eradicating polio for good. Thank you to Light the Hoan and Rotary District 6270 for helping us put on a wonderful night!
