Thanks to Jasmin Jessen for highlighting LineVision's work to #UnlockGridCapacity with #DynamicLineRating as part of Microsoft's report detailing how #GridEnhancingTechnologies can help meet the growing #EnergyDemand from AI data centers sustainably.
We all know AI is an energy-hungry beast, but could it be used to solve its own emissions problem? Microsoft has released a report, titled “Accelerating Sustainability with AI: Innovations for a Better Future”, exploring progress on unlocking AI's potential for sustainability. The company reported a 30% emissions increase earlier this year, primarily due to its AI data centre buildout. The report's foreword, written by Microsoft’s Brad Smith Vice Chair and President, and Melanie Nakagawa, Chief Sustainability Officer, says: “One lesson from this last year is that minimising the sustainability impact of AI operations requires more than minimising resource use in data centre operations; it also requires supporting the communities where data centres are located and expanding access to zero carbon electricity.” I've taken a look at its AI progress for our Energy Digital readers. #Sustainability #AI #Technology LineVision National Grid Microsoft Azure Vibrant Planet
