Thank you to InVita Healthcare Technologies for inviting LWVI to share our journey of iTransplant integration at #iTx2024 - a Global Partner Conference for #iTransplant users. Our presentation yesterday was an opportunity to share our integration journey and celebrate our partnership with InVita. Lions World Vision Institute leaders Jim McCorkle and Kylie McKinley presented in the Executive Session along with Wade Liu, Invita's Chief Product Officer and General Manager for Donation & Transplant. They shared how we brought together two large organizations with their own iTransplant use, LEITR and Sightlife, under one instance of iTransplant for the newly formed Lions World Vision Institute. #InVita was an invaluable partner in helping us tackle this challenge and the end result has been incredibly successful. Thank you to everyone at InVita who supported this important initiative. We appreciate the opportunity to share at iTx2024. Jason K. Woody Todd J. LWVI Headquarters are located in #Tampa, Florida so we have been anxiously monitoring Hurricane #Milton. Fortunately, it has passed, and we’re relieved to hear that staff in Florida are safe. Although many in #Florida are facing power outages, LWVI eye and tissue recovery operations have resumed, thanks to the generator keeping our headquarters operational. Given the conditions in our regions and the school closures through Friday, staff will be staying home to manage cleanup and recovery. For employees experiencing home damage or extended power outages, our office facilities remain available. We have two showers and a kitchen for food storage, along with coffee and water. This storm reveals the need to #SupportEachOther through life's most difficult moments. It is a lesson we learn in our work with LWVI donors and families who leave a #legacy of caring every day. We are inspired by our mission as we support our employees and continue our life-changing work. #WeAreLionsWorldVision #SoTheWorldCanSee

Today we join our voices to celebrate #WorldSightDay. As we hope for the safety of our employees and communities impacted by Hurricane Milton, we remain committed to our #vision of expanding access to #eyehealth to underserved children, #SoTheWorldCanSee.

Building international partners and sharing our innovative work helps international surgeons provide the best care possible to their patients. Thank you to Heather Machin, RN, MBA, PhD of the Global Alliance of Eye Banks (GAEBA) - for inviting us to attend and present at the World Eye Bank Symposium (WEBS) in Jakarta, Indonesia last weekend. Jeremy Shuman represented LWVI, presenting on Worldwide Adoption of Transplant𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘋𝘠 DSAEK, and attended the combined Asian Cornea Society meeting, including the Association of Eye Banks of Asia session. #WEBS attracted impressive representation from around the world, with emphasis on #Asia - including leaders from the Association of Eye Banks of Asia, and eye bankers from South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Australia, USA, Germany, and of course, Indonesia. It was a pleasure and privilege to interact with many old and new friends - too many to list - advancing eye banking and cornea transplantation, #SoTheWorldCanSee. Congratulations to Dr. Namrata Sharma for winning the GAEBA-supported, competitive 2024 Dr. Dubord Award for International Eye Banking. In Dr. Sharma's acceptance speech, she recognized Jeremy Shuman as a collaborator and supporter of her work in India, specifically Dr. Sharma's endeavors to change #eyebank legislation. A humbling recognition and a true honor. https://lnkd.in/epjquadu Jeremy had the opportunity to visit two partners in #Jakarta - the Lions Eye Bank of Jakarta and the #Indonesia Eye Bank. LWVI supports and partners with both eye bank systems. We also had the opportunity to visit our partner in South Korea, Major Tom. Jeremy observed the importation of LWVI tissue into South Korea. #WeAreLionsWorldVisionInstitute, and we are working every day to create connections around the world. Lions World Vision Institute is a proud member of Donate Life Florida. Miss Florida 2024, Casana Fink, shared her personal connection to organ donation at our recent board meeting. By registering, you can help save lives, just like her father’s was saved. Sign up today at DonateLifeFlorida.org and make a lasting impact. #DonateLife #LeaveYourLegacy #SoTheWorldCanSee

Exciting News! Lions World Vision Institute now offers BrightMEM™ Corneal Allografts provided by Brightstar Therapeutics. Through its regenerative properties BrightMEM™ is the newest treatment for patients suffering from severe ocular surface disorders and offers hope as a durable solution for patients. This novel treatment promotes restoration of the cornea’s protective surface. It uses the posterior layer of a donor cornea, Descemet’s Membrane, which creates a new foundation for the ocular surface, capable of supporting the patient’s native limbal epithelial stem cells.
