🌟 Highlights from our October Convening with Dr. Angie Holzer from WikiCharities 🌟 We were excited to hear from the founder and director of WikiCharities, an innovative open source database that aims to improve nonprofit collaboration by creating a comprehensive resource for global charities. 🏡 Their mission is to help nonprofits connect and collaborate more effectively by allowing users to search for organizations by topic and location, much like a “Wikipedia for charities,” hence the name. 🔍 It was a very interesting session, where our Little Big Team and our Believers gathered info behind the reality of academia and research taking place around charities and nonprofit collaboration and how to improve social impact outcomes. 🌱 Below are some of the key takeaways from the Convening. ⬇️ Learn more about WikiCharities here: https://lnkd.in/ghAQXpGi #littlebigfund #littlebigchange #socialimpact #entrepreneurship #socialventure #enterprise #nonprofit #ngo #fundraising #startup #socialentrepreneurship #proposalwriting #microgrant #leadership #wikicharities #charity

Very interesting conversation! 🗣️
A few weeks ago, in our Open Network series, we had the pleasure of talking to podcast producers Ntombini Marrengane from Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Carol Joy Williams from 2Stories. Together they produce, 'Just for a Change’, the Bertha Centre-driven podcast series, which is aimed at finding and surfacing African stories and conversations that inspire and ignite social change. 💡We loved learning about their process and understanding the technical aspects of developing and delivering a high quality podcast such as 'Just for a Change.' 🧡 And, we especially loved hearing from Ntombini how she understands and finds stories to research and people to interview, bringing stories and ideas to life on air. 🎙️ Dip into this article for more insights from the session, to see the slides and recording and read up on tricks you can use in your own podcast practice. Thank you, Ntombini and Carol. We will continue to listen and enthuse about your wonderful work!

I’m looking forward to this conversation next week with Esther Saehyun L. and Aleeka Kay Morgan next week, where we discuss whether there’s Imposter Syndrome or we’re all really just imposters and that’s actually a good thing when the sector is full of inequities and dissonance!
In her thought-provoking article, Esther Saehyun L. boldly challenges the status quo of the nonprofit sector, writing, “I am an imposter. I don’t belong in the nonprofit sector—as it is. I refuse to subscribe to the values of white saviorism, colonialism, donor worship, poverty tourism, and the self-congratulatory attitude of ‘doing good.’” In this discussion, Esther, Vu Le (author of the popular Nonprofit AF blog), and Aleeka Kay Morgan (director of Nurturing Wāhine Fund) will explore key themes from Lee’s article and delve into the experience of imposter syndrome within the nonprofit space. Join us for an engaging conversation on how these dynamics shape our sense of belonging and influence the sector. Free Registration: bit.ly/imposterAF Captions Enabled. #impostersyndrome

How “Catalytic Funding” Leads to Exponential Impact. Serial entrepreneur and Ashoka E-2 Member Illai Gescheit argues on LinkedIn Pulse (https://lnkd.in/ghzpyubT) that tech media like TechCrunch and Sifted should pay more attention to “Catalytic Funding” like the Ashoka Fellowship. Illai rightly points out the difference in media attention between VC investments and other forms of funding. He calls this a missed opportunity, and we couldn’t agree more. To find out why, and how Ashoka’s Fellowship creates exponential impact, read our latest medium article, “A Different Kind of Funding: How Catalytic Investments Lead to Exponential Impact” here: https://lnkd.in/gtK3CEhj
