  • Reflecting on an incredible week at China Licensing Expo! After 17 years of being in Shanghai, participating in this year's CLE gave us a wonderful opportunity to share our deep experience in what we often call "licensing's best kept secret" - corporate brand extension.   Through Ciarán Coyle's keynote speech at the China Licensing Forum and Sabrina Gu's presentation, we highlighted the growing momentum for corporate brand licensing in China. What truly energized us was witnessing firsthand the unique passion of Chinese consumers - particularly evident in the character licensing sector, where fan enthusiasm is absolutely contagious!   This consumer passion perfectly mirrors what we see in corporate brand licensing, albeit differently: while character licensing captures emotional connection, corporate licensing builds on deep-rooted brand trust and loyalty. It's this parallel that makes the Chinese market so exciting - consumers here form powerful bonds with brands they trust.   The connections and conversations at CLE showcased the vibrant future ahead, as demonstrated through our successful partnerships with global brands like Philips, Castrol, and Electrolux in the region.   • Day 2 of China Licensing Expo, and what an incredible experience it's been!   We've had the pleasure of connecting with numerous local businesses, fostering new relationships and exploring exciting opportunities.   The highlight of the day was our Asia Managing Director Sabrina Gu's insightful speech, which touched on fascinating trends in the Chinese market. She discussed the growing preference for local brands among Chinese consumers and how these brands can partner locally to expand their reach.   Sabrina emphasized a key point: partnering with a global agency is the most effective way for Chinese brands to achieve growth!   We're energized and looking forward to what the rest of the China Licensing Expo brings. This month, we're thrilled to introduce you to MIRIAM CAMARA, a key member of our LATAM team who brings a wealth of experience and passion to our agency.   Can you share a bit about your professional journey and what aspect of the licensing process still excites you the most?   "My journey in the licensing industry has given me a dynamic 360° perspective. My experience spans corporate, entertainment, sports, gaming, and lifestyle brands in key markets across Latin America, Europe, MENA, and India. What still excites me most is capturing each brand's unique essence. I'm particularly passionate about exploring specialized categories like automotive, appliances, technology, and electronics. Being involved in the entire lifecycle of branded products, from conception to strategic negotiations and point-of-sale executions, continues to be thrilling."   How would you describe LMCA's culture, and what aspects of it do you value most?   "LMCA's culture thrives on innovation, teamwork, and deep knowledge in brand extension. Our focus on creativity and strategic thinking, combined with our diverse team's expertise, allows us to effectively address challenges and achieve outstanding results for our clients."   Looking ahead, what future developments in licensing are you most excited about, and what advice would you give to newcomers in the industry?   "I'm excited about how technology is transforming our industry. Immersive experiences like AR and VR are boosting consumer engagement, while AI provides smart insights. E-commerce is expanding global market access, encouraging collaboration and stronger brand-consumer connections. My advice for newcomers is to stay adaptable, embrace tech, and focus on building emotional ties through creative content and innovative products that fulfill both functional and aspirational needs."   What do you find are the most distinctive challenges or opportunities in the Latin American licensing landscape?   "The Latin American licensing landscape offers unique opportunities for brands to tailor their strategies effectively. Mexico's vast market, for instance, provides multiple tiers for segmentation. By understanding local dynamics, companies can capitalize on emerging trends and engage consumers more effectively. While the region faces challenges such as economic disparities compared to leading global economies, issues with piracy, informal markets, and complex taxation, these challenges often spark innovative approaches. Navigating this distinctive landscape encourages brands to develop adaptable strategies that can succeed in diverse market conditions."   Last question, a fun one: chocolate or vanilla?   "I'm a 'chocoholic' through and through, and if it's bitter, even better!"   Join us next month as we continue to showcase the diverse talents driving LMCA's global licensing success!
