Chief of Happiness 😃 | Head of Employee Experience @ LA Metro | Driving Organizational Culture and Engagement
Today was a busy and joyful day for #EmployeeEngagement at Los Angeles Metro! CEO Stephanie Wiggins and my team led a memorable All-Hands Meeting, where we heard firsthand from staff who experienced the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. The takeaway was clear: as LA prepares to host the 2028 Games, every Metro employee has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history. Stephanie shared how monumental this event will be for Metro, comparing it to “hosting seven Taylor Swift concerts a day” for 17 days – a challenge that will require active participation from every member of our +12,000 workforce. Teamwork, innovation, communication, practice, consistency, and collaboration will be key. By putting people first, we can (and will) deliver an Olympic experience that showcases the best of LA and leaves a lasting legacy. I’m excited to be a 2028 “Metro-lympian” and join the ranks of my colleagues who moved LA during the 1984 Olympics. #GoMetro #Olympics #Paralympics #LA28 #PuttingPeopleFirst

Congratulations Alexander Medina! Welcome to the Metro team! 🎉
I am excited to announce that I will be joining Los Angeles Metro as a Transportation Associate I! At Metro, I will be working as a part of the Mobility Corridors team, a key subset of the Countywide Planning and Development department. The Mobility Corridors team is responsible for planning and developing Metro rail projects across Los Angeles County, which will improve regional connectivity and access. As I embark on this new chapter, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for my time at LADOT. I am especially thankful to the UBM team for their mentorship and support, which has been vital to my development as a transportation planning professional. I am thrilled to contribute to Metro’s mission of designing a world-class transportation network for all Angelenos!

We invite you to join us for the American Heart Association’s 2024 Heart & Stroke Walk as we walk in loving memory of Ilyssa DeCasperis, our beloved Chief People Officer who passed away in September. Ilyssa was more than just a remarkable leader—she was a beacon of compassion, empathy and strength. She taught us that at the heart of everything we do are the people we serve and care for. Her kindness and dedication left a lasting mark on everyone she touched. This year, we walk not only to celebrate her life but to carry forward the work she was so passionate about. This free event is open to the public and, of course, all Metro employees, as well as your families, friends, and even your furry companions. It’s a great chance to champion heart-healthy living and make a positive impact on our community. Let’s make a difference together! ❤️ If you’re a Metro employee, please register with Metro’s employee team for the 2024 Heart & Stroke Walk here: https://lnkd.in/gfFwz_Si. Today marks Indigenous People’s Day – a day that recognizes the rich cultures, histories and contributions of Indigenous and Native communities across America that have played a foundational role in shaping the land and society we benefit from today. Los Angeles County occupies land originally inhabited and still cared for by the Tongva, Tataviam, Kizh, and Chumash Peoples, which is the land on which we serve. At Metro, we recognize and respect their enduring relationship with this land. In keeping with the “putting people first” philosophy, we must also acknowledge the injustices and challenges that Indigenous communities have faced throughout history, many of which persist today, and commit ourselves to learning and supporting efforts that increase equity and inclusion for everyone. The artwork in some of our Metro stations honors our area’s history, including: the mosaic pattern on the columns at Azusa Downtown that draw upon Gabrielino-Tongva basket designs; the steel columns at Duarte/City of Hope that feature a Gabrielino-Tongva basket pattern; ‘The Crying Rock and Saint Monica’ installment at Downtown Santa Monica Station which was advised by late Tongva elder and cultural consultant Julia Bogany, among others. We invite you to learn more about these Indigenous communities by visiting the Native American Organizations in the City and County of Los Angeles website: https://lnkd.in/dpCJyAR7
