Today is Ageism Awareness Day, a day to reflect on how ageism impacts how we think, feel, and act toward others—and ourselves—based on age. Ageism can show up in subtle or obvious ways, from unconscious biases to institutional barriers in healthcare and employment. In the workforce, many older adults face discrimination in hiring, promotion, and professional development, despite bringing invaluable experience and skills to the table. In fact, two out of three older workers believe they face age discrimination, costing the economy billions in lost productivity and opportunities. More importantly, ageism puts a price on an individual’s dignity. How has ageism impacted your life or the lives of those around you? Together, we can remove barriers so that older adults have the same opportunity to age with dignity, independence and purpose. #AgeismAwarenessDay
