Dear Friends of LynnLab, Will you consider supporting LynnLab this year? We’ve had another fantastic year bringing science to the greater Lynn community! Here’s a look at some of the activities we’ve been involved in throughout 2024: A vibrant program at RAW Artworks in February, exploring the “Intersections of Art and Science” with quantum physicist Ryan Robinson Seven weeks of fun with 5th graders in STEM after-school programs at the Lynn YMCA last spring Engaging with hundreds of visitors at East Boston STEAM Day in May A successful Summer STEAM Night at the Lynn Museum A wonderful day at the LynnSide Out Festival in September A Family STEM Night at the Lynn Public Library for Mass STEM Week in October Coming up: the LEAP For Education “Mad Scientist” program We are deeply grateful to Lynn Museum, Mass STEM Network, MiniPCR, and New England Biolabs for their generous support of these programs. We could use your help! Each year, we face about $5,000 in expenses that aren’t covered by grants. Would you consider making a donation to help with these costs? Donations can be easily made through PayPal here: https://lnkd.in/eS2JEC2E We also have a storage unit full of donated supplies and equipment, but the rent on that space is rising. If you know of any affordable or free local storage options (we need about 100 square feet of secure space), please let us know! Are you interested in volunteering? Each of our events requires a team of volunteers to help make them successful, and we’re always grateful for those who lend a hand. Please reach out if you’d like to be added to our volunteer list! Wishing you all the best for the holiday season from all of us at LynnLab! Warmly, LynnLab Team

We had such a great time at the Lynnside Out Festival yesterday! So many kids and families excited about our live plankton exploration, and learning how to use micropipettes. Shoutout to David Eatough, Sierra Muñoz, and Fana Mersha for helping out, and to Mayor Jared Nicholson for making it all happen.

Here are some if the explorations we have planned: - Experience how micropipettes can be used in science and art - Explore the microscopic world with a build-your-own Foldscope paper microscope. - Build a viewer to examine fluorescence in the natural world - Extract DNA from plants - Build an electrophoresis device and use it to separate molecules by color and size The program can be adapted to meet your needs and interests!
Looking forward to spending some time at the Lynn Museum & Historical Society this summer! Stop by if you can, and please share with your networks. Doneeca Thurston Lauren Drago, AICP Danya Smith BioConnects New England miniPCR bio Andy Gardner Ryan Mudawar

Had an incredible time volunteering with Don Pinkerton and LynnLab at the East Boston STEAM Day this past weekend! We were thrilled to share two plankton samples which provided the community with brightfield microscopic views of tiny animals collected from our local beach. Additionally, we had a micropipette station where kids learned how to pipette. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community and spark interest in STEAM education and careers. #volunteering #STEAM #communityengagement
