Welcome Cosmonic! Welcome Cosmonic to the Margo Initiative! We look forward to collaborating on groundbreaking solutions in cloud and edge computing.
About us
Drawing its name from the Latin word for edge, Margo defines the mechanisms for interoperability between edge applications, edge devices, and edge orchestration software. The open standard promises to bring much needed flexibility, simplicity, and scalability – unlocking barriers to innovation in complex, multi-vendor environments and accelerating digital transformation for organizations of all sizes.

Interpretation of a “tiny” software infrastructure footprint varies widely depending on where you focus in the edge stack. "Tiny" for #Kubernetes on a clustered edge data center server? 👉 ~32GB of memory. "Tiny" for Kubernetes on a small edge server on the factory floor? 👉 Maybe 2GB. "Tiny" for #Docker on a #Linux-based IoT gateway? 👉 256MB on a good day. Ocre runtime “tiny”? 👉 256KB! That’s 1000X lighter than a Docker foundation, while still feeling like Docker. Ocre enables secure, containerized apps on the #MCU and resource-constrained CPU-based devices that power the majority of the industrial edge, including sensors, controllers, cameras, machines, robots, drones and beyond. Developers can write apps in choice of language (e.g. #C, GoLang, Rust) and update them independently. We’re excited to be collaborating with the Margo community to “go tiny”! Check out my new blog linked below for more on Ocre and how it fits into the Margo architecture. We're looking forward to working with the Margo community to extend application containerization and orchestration interoperability to resource-constrained edge devices that have as little as 1MB of memory! Check out our CEO Jason Shepherd's blog 👇 about where our device edge orchestration solution fits in the Margo architecture and how we use the open source #ProjectOcre device runtime from LF Edge that's powered by #WebAssembly and The Zephyr Project. Our team will be collaborating with other innovative Margo community members including ABB, Capgemini, Cosmonic, Dianomic, Intel Corporation, Microsoft, Rockwell Automation, Schneider Electric, Siemens, SUSE, and ZEDEDA to foster orchestration interoperability across industrial edge infrastructure solutions.
