We envision a future in which every child in Marin can reach their full educational potential to become the outstanding leaders, caring neighbors, and successful professionals they want to be. To get there, we have made a commitment to redesign our educational ecosystem so that race, ethnicity and poverty no longer determine opportunity or outcome. Unfortunately, 25,000 young people from infants to college graduates (more than 45% of all youth in Marin) are impacted by a system that was not designed with equity in mind. Because of this, about 60% of them are not yet meeting key Milestone outcomes. This is unacceptable and is why over 100 youth and family leaders, community organizations, funders, and public agencies - have come together as an integrated, Cradle-to-Career network to advance educational equity across Marin. Together, we are working to improve outcomes for all students while accelerating success for those most impacted by historical biases and structural racism. Racial Equity Statement: Racial equity for students in Marin will be achieved when race and ethnicity no longer predict the outcome of a young person's educational future. As a Marin Promise Partner, our organization commits to identify and dismantle racial inequities, and provide equity-based supports, so that our most vulnerable children can achieve their full potential.

🌟 Partner Spotlight: West Marin Fund 🌟 The West Marin Fund is a shining example of how thoughtful philanthropy can fill local gaps and create lasting change. The Fund is a dedicated contributor to the West Marin Early Learning & Collaborative Action Network (ELCAN)—one of the regional action teams supporting Marin Promise Partnership’s Early Learning & Literacy Initiative. West Marin Fund has played a crucial role in expanding preschool access (a collaborative effort that led to 50% more children attending preschool in West Marin) and reviving programs like the Car Seats for West Marin Kids Program. Their Collaborative Impact Project further exemplifies their leadership in bringing local organizations together to address community needs. What a powerful example of collective impact in Marin County👏 At Tomales High, we learned that true progress comes from listening, collaborating, and adapting to meet students' needs. Through the Tomales Success Network (County of Marin, Department of Health and Human Services, 10,000 Degrees, College of Marin, West Marin Community Services , Point Reyes National Seashore Association - PRNSA , West Marin Community Schools, and Shoreline Unified School District), partners identified gaps in academic support and took action by advocating for Bridge the Gap to expand into West Marin to create the school’s first comprehensive tutoring program. This is what our cradle-to-career partnership is all about—centering student voices, embracing collective responsibility, and driving cross-sector change. Every partner played a vital role in shifting policies, resources, and practices to bring the tutoring program to life for Tomales High School students. Marin County representing at this year’s StriveTogether National Convening: "4 Million Futures: Local Solutions Fueling National Impact" As part of the #CradletoCareer national network, over 600 leaders from across the country gathered to share insights, collaborate, and drive our collective mission to transform systems for youth and families. With partners from Marin County Office of Education, Novato Unified School District, Parent Voices Marin, and Canal Alliance, we spent two days learning strategies that are making a difference in improving student outcomes. We’re energized by the shared commitment to equity and proud to be part of a national effort aiming to put 4 million more youth on the path to #EconomicMobility by 2030. Earlier this month, some of our Backbone staff and Partners kicked off the Marin Leadership for Equity and Opportunity (LEO) program with Impact Launch. The first session reminded us that complexity is a cause for collaboration—which is exactly why this Partnership exists. Addressing educational inequities requires collective action, and this training is equipping us with practical tools to lead with intention, craft innovative strategies, and approach each of our work in fresh ways that drive our mission forward. We're excited to keep learning alongside other passionate leaders and committed to applying these insights to make a meaningful impact for students and families across Marin.
