MESA South Brooklyn, a replication of MESA's high-performing high school in Bushwick, will open in Southwest Brooklyn on August 18, 2025, with a founding class of 125 9th graders. In time, the school will grow to 500 students across grades 9-12. Eli brings over two decades of leadership experience driving change across education, philanthropy, and mission-driven organizations. Most recently, as a partner at Acacia Partners, he led growth strategies for nonprofits and for-profit organizations in edtech, healthcare, charter schools, and philanthropy. Previously, as CEO of SMASH, he tripled the number of students served, launched an internship program, and expanded into five new states—helping to increase the number of students of color pursuing STEM careers. Eli’s career began in strategy consulting before he transitioned into the impact sector, leading the West Coast region for Platform Learning, a tutoring company serving low-income students. He later managed over $80M in philanthropic investments at The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and, as President & CEO of Pacific Charter School Development, led the development of 50+ public charter school facilities while raising more than $30M in philanthropic funding. Beyond his professional work, Eli has served on the boards of Capital Impact Partners, Discovery Education, and The Berkeley Public Schools Fund. He currently sits on the Structured Finance Committee for the Charter School Growth Fund and the boards of First Tee-Oakland and PCSD.
