His skill set also includes interactions with numerous national agency committees, such as Coast Guard, National Safety Council, and others with a focus on establishing maritime information exchange policies between industry and government. His participation included testimony/presentation to the National Security Council's sub-committee for Maritime Domain Awareness and to the International Maritime Organization's sub-committee on the open sharing of commercial vessel automatic identification system information. George is also bilingual and multicultural. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and then lived in Paris, France for eleven years due to his family's extensive U.S. diplomatic service. His father was a U.S. Maritime attaché to South America and then Europe, and his sister recently retired from a long career with the State Department after serving most recently as U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania. His education includes an MBA in Finance & International Trade from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Huge congratulations to one of our few older sister exchanges, Marine Exchange of the San Francisco Bay Region, on its 175th anniversary! Playing such a critical role in such an important industry for almost two centuries—helping members 24/7/365 and keeping mariners safe—is a spectacular achievement. As we approach our own 150th anniversary, we are thankful for the opportunity to work and share information with exchanges throughout the U.S. and in Canada. Bravo Zulu to Scott Humphrey and all the folks involved with the Marine Exchange in San Francisco. Best wishes for continued success. To 175 more!
Thank you to the San Francisco Bay Region maritime community for an incredible 175th anniversary celebration. I'm a bit tired this evening, but I want to take a minute to express my gratitude for your support of the Marine Exchange of the San Francisco Bay Region. A special thanks to our sponsors for making this event possible. You'll hear more about them in the coming days. Much more to follow on tonight's amazing celebration.

The Exchange is excited to announce the annual #DelawareRiver102 course on October 15, 2024 at GEODIS! Delaware River 102 follows up on the breadth of #DelawareRiver101 with a deep dive into the inner workings of the ports. Tickets are $125 for Exchange member and $175 for non-members, and you can register here: https://lnkd.in/ed-w5JkX Delaware River 102 provides a deep dive on topics that even the most seasoned maritime industry veterans may not fully understand. This class will focus on Maritime Exchange operations—including Maritime On-Line, dispatching, and how they help keep the port moving smoothly—river pilot operations, longshore and stevedore coordination, LNG bunkering, port electrification, challenges of offshore wind, workboats and lightering, marine construction, and fumigation. This half-day session is designed and recommended for those who have taken Delaware River 101 as well as veterans of the port community who want a deeper understanding of operations outside their own organizations. But the course will also be of value to those who have not yet attended the first session. Space is limited, and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to claim a spot, contact Yair Farkas at yfarkas@maritimedelriv.com.
