Spaceship Neptune features the largest windows ever flown to space. Standing more than five feet tall (5’2”) and the result of a groundbreaking collaboration with Llamas Plastics Inc, they are an essential element in delivering a new way to experience space. Our windows offer unparalleled views with optimal optical properties, thanks to a special UV-reflective coating. In the development phase, our team used Siemens Digital Industries Software for thermal analysis of the capsule skin and windows. They conducted rigorous testing on solar energy transmission through the windows, adjusting the coatings based on these insights to ensure passenger and avionic safety while maintaining clarity and protection from harmful sunlight. The final coating was chosen after multiple studies, balancing transmitted solar energy with the need for clear, expansive views. Our design team meticulously sized the 15 repeating windows to create the best angles for both seated and standing passengers, providing contiguous panoramic views and avoiding the bifurcation of views that would occur with a horizontal orientation. This thoughtful approach to design and engineering reflects our commitment to delivering the most safe, comfortable, and awe-inspiring space experience possible. #spaceperspective #overvieweffect #space #travel #inspiration #view
