ICYMI: It was a truly special day at the Marshall University Women’s Soccer #HerdStrong game, where cancer survivors from Edwards and St. Mary’s—Missy Massey, Jodi Estep, and Tia Szendi-Horvath—joined the players, walking hand in hand onto the pitch before the game began. Their strength and resilience serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of breast cancer awareness. A huge thank you to Marshall Athletics for shining a light on this crucial cause and supporting survivors in such a meaningful way. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #AdvancingHealth // #InspiringHope // #ServingYou

October is #NationalPharmacistMonth, and what better way to celebrate than by shining a light on the amazing contributions of women in our field! Did you know that women pharmacists make up 65% of the workforce? The women of St. Mary's Pharmacy are proud to serve as trusted health care resources in our communities. This day is especially significant as we pay tribute to Elizabeth Gooking Greenleaf, the first female pharmacist in the Thirteen Colonies, who opened her apothecary in 1681 while raising 12 children! Here’s to all the women making a difference in pharmacy and health care! 💊💪 #WomenPharmacistsDay

Today, we had the honor of dedicating the resident room in the Labor & Delivery Unit to a truly remarkable man— Dr. Bruce Ratcliff. Dr. Ratcliff, a retired OB/GYN, has been a beloved part of our hospital’s story for decades. His family’s legacy runs deep—his father delivered the very first baby here at Cabell Huntington Hospital, and his brother, alongside Dr. Werthammer, established our NICU. With the help of his family, we were able to keep today’s dedication a surprise, and it was made even more special as retired labor and delivery nurses and current OB/GYNs came together to celebrate him. From July 1973 to December 2017, Dr. Ratcliff devoted himself to bringing new life into the world and caring for so many families. We are forever grateful for his commitment, compassion, and the lasting impact he’s had on our community. Thank you, Dr. Ratcliff, for your years of service and the legacy you’ve created, which will continue to impact our patients and families for years to come.
