  • Congratulations to Niah Jakel, recipient of the fifth annual Mary Ann Wenzel Nursing Scholar award. This annual award is made possible through a donation from Fritz and Tom Wenzel. Jakel is currently working towards her associate degree in nursing to become a registered nurse, with aspirations to complete her Bachelor of Science and ultimately Master of Science in nursing. She is currently working as a certified nursing assistant in oncology/hematology at Marshfield Medical Center. Jakel has also been an AmeriCorps employee with Volunteer Services since August 2022, helping with the onboarding, orientation, and training of new volunteers. Her work has been instrumental in supporting the nursing units and emergency department, revamping both service areas and increasing volunteer involvement. Her colleagues describe her as kind, compassionate and dedicated.

  • Congratulations to Dr. Erik Stratman, dermatologist at Marshfield Medical Center, for recently receiving the 2024 C. Todd Stewart Clinical Excellence Award. The award honors the legacy of Dr. Charles Todd Stewart, who served his patients and his community as a dedicated pediatric intensivist, passionate child advocate and visionary leader. Dr. Stewart died suddenly at age 48 while serving as Marshfield Clinic vice president. Dr. Stratman has been with the Health System for more than 20 years. He serves as Service Line medical director for Dermatology and is the Dermatology Resident Program Director. He is a member of many professional societies and has been involved in dozens of quality and safety committees for the Health System. In a letter from a nominator, they stated, “Dr. Stratman is a true physician leader and takes the role very seriously. I have personally seen him teach residents and he is always calm and takes time to ensure his students understand and are competent in their abilities. He is highly respected throughout the system as the leading dermatologist and is often looked to for guidance and advice. Dr. Stratman is a man of highest integrity and his strength of character is evident in both his professional and personal accomplishments. Dr. Stratman believes very strongly in giving back to his community and has spent many years donating time and resource to improving the lives of our youth." Dr. Stratman was noted to be extraordinarily committed to improving the lives of patients, especially showcased by the 2003 outbreak of Monkey Pox that impacted dozens of people in a local community.

  • We’re celebrating at Mosinee Center today as Susie Durst marks her 45th anniversary with Marshfield Clinic Health System! Susie was hired as a medical transcriptionist in 1979. Her role has shifted a bit over the years. She is now a medical secretary team lead in Mosinee, a place very close to her heart. "I have always been part of the Mosinee clinic," said Susie. "I was one of the employees who was asked to shovel the first load of dirt for our current location." When asked what the future holds, Susie will only say it is a secret. But every day she remains on the job, it's certain she will have a positive impact on patients. "I enjoy my job and each and every person I have worked for during my 45 years," said Susie. "There have been many changes at Mosinee Center, but one thing that has always remained constant is that the patient is #1. Without them, I would not be here." Thank you Susie for all that you’ve done and continue to do for our patients and community!
