Entrepreneurship is a craft that can be taught. Our focus is the education of MIT students to whom we provide proven frameworks, courses, co-curricular programs, state-of-the-art facilities, advisory services, and processes to create a rigorous, practical, customized, and integrated educational experience. We accept and welcome our leadership role to advance the field at MIT as well as globally. Trust Center Values include: MIT STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE AND RIGOR: We provide the highest-quality education, advising, and practical experiences. COLLABORATION: We work closely with other MIT departments, labs, centers, and groups to connect students with the best entrepreneurship programming across the Institute. DIVERSITY: Entrepreneurship requires diversity of opinion and diversity of people. Throughout our courses, advising, and programming, we combine a range of critical perspectives. EXPERIMENTATION: Each year we try new programs and activities. If we fail, we learn in the process. When we succeed, we aim to scale rapidly. HONEST BROKER: Neither the Center nor its faculty or staff take a "piece" of the new companies that we nurture and assist. Our only goal is the student's long-term entrepreneurial success. MENS ET MANUS: True to the motto of MIT, in all of our courses and throughout our activities, we operate on a hybrid model that fuses academic and practitioner perspectives.

It's been a big week at E'ship this week with all of our programs kicking off a week late (thank you ex-tropical cyclone Alfie). Last night, 45 ambitious QUT students, staff, and alumni kicked off the #QUTEntrepreneurship #SideHustle Program—a six-week sprint from "I think I have an idea?" to "Boom! Here's my MVP!" 🎉 We launched this program in 2023, and every semester, it keeps growing. More sign-ups, more big ideas, and (let’s be real) more existential crises when we ask, “But is this actually a problem worth solving?” 😅 Now, one challenge we haven’t solved? Sign-up vs. Show-up. People love committing to a side hustle—until Netflix, life, their comfy couch, and maybe the weather, get in the way. But for those who do turn up, it's a game-changer. They learn, build, pivot (a lot), and walk away with a solid MVP and a network of like-minded hustlers. Who want to be a Side Hustler? Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and Kapor Capital founder Mitch Kapor’s first job as a Radio DJ in Hartford, CT gave him a unique set of skills. “Well, one of the things I did as a disc jockey was to put together mixes. To think carefully about curating a selection of different kinds of songs that made something that had flow to it.” “And, when you’re designing a software product… you want the user experience to have a flow to it.”

We were honored to host Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) founder Mitch Kapor for MIT’s Doriot Lecture this evening. We are so thankful that Mitch, and his wife Dr. Freada Kapor Klein, were so generous with their time. Mitch Kapor is the Founding Partner of Kapor Capital. He is a pioneer of the personal computing industry and long-time startup investor. He founded Lotus Development Corporation and designed Lotus 1-2-3, the “killer application” which made the personal computer ubiquitous in the business world in the 1980s.
