October is #LGBTQ History Month and we're taking the opportunity to honor some important LGBTQ housing and homelessness activists! Today we're highlighting Los Angeles Gay Liberation Front member and housing activist, Jon Platania. Jon lost his job at the Department of Housing and Urban Development after being entrapped in Griffith Park. He joined the Gay Liberation Front and developed and managed their Liberation Houses. These houses were spread throughout the city and were the nation's first facilities for gay adults and youth experiencing homelessness. The Liberation Houses were an extension of The Gay Community Services Center (now the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center). Learn more about Jon and the Liberation Houses from PBS https://bit.ly/3zSnO3O
