Access to capital (the ability to obtain funding or financial backing) enables businesses to thrive and helps small business owners build generational wealth for their families! Last Friday, Labor's Office of Financial Regulation hosted the kickoff meeting for the Maryland Community Investment Venture Fund Advisory Board. The Venture Fund will support partnerships between financial technology firms and Maryland financial institutions to develop products that help businesses in low-to-moderate income areas access capital. If you’re a fintech or Maryland-chartered bank or credit union interested in the Venture Fund, subscribe to OFR emails for updates:https://lnkd.in/e6x9wJmG

Preparing Maryland workers for the future is a top priority for us! That means partnering with community colleges to provide more training opportunities in cybersecurity, national security and skilled trades! Secretary Wu recently joined National Cyber Director Harry Coker, Howard Community College (HCC) President Daria J. Willis, and others to break ground on HCC's Workforce Development and Skilled Trades Center that will act as a hub for a wide range of workforce training. HCC is already a top producer of registered apprenticeships in the State of Maryland, developing entry-level and managerial talent in cybersecurity, healthcare, childcare, hospitality and tourism, and construction. With this new training center, we're excited for even more Marylanders to have access to the training they need to access good jobs that are in high demand.
