Gypsum is a key ingredient in drywall, plaster & cement—it’s also used in everyday essentials like shampoo and toothpaste. Last year, the Port of Baltimore led the nation in gypsum imports, handling almost 775,000 tons—more than any other U.S. port!

We’re proud to announce that the Port of Baltimore has received a top U.S. Coast Guard security assessment for the 16th consecutive year. With heavy emphasis on cyber and perimeter security measures, this assessment also included a thorough review of all security protocols and procedures at the Dundalk, Seagirt, North Locust Point, South Locust Point, Fairfield, and Masonville marine terminals. “I want to recognize the great work of our MPA security, operations, and information technology departments, as well as the yeoman’s work of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and Allied Universal to make the Port of Baltimore one of the safest and most secure ports in the U.S,” said MPA Executive Director Jonathan Daniels. Gov. Wes Moore has declared today as Maryland Agriculture Trade Day in recognition of the contribution agriculture trade makes to the state’s economy, farmers, and communities. This day honors Maryland’s farmers, ranchers, and related agricultural businesses and the role they play in feeding the globe. The Port of Baltimore is proud to play a big role in the agriculture industry by handling more farm and construction machinery than any other U.S. port. In 2024, more than 848,000 tons of that equipment crossed our docks. “Maryland agriculture benefits significantly from exports,” said Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks. “The Port of Baltimore is a leader in ag equipment imports and exports and also serves to connect our producers with sales around the world.” https://ow.ly/Jn7r50VkVC1

The Port of Baltimore handled nearly 600,000 tons of forest products last year, more than any other U.S. port. Forest products include rolled paper like this from the Suomigracht today at our South Locust Point terminal.

The Port of Baltimore was proud to welcome the world’s largest car carrier, HOEGH AUTOLINERS Aurora, yesterday! She has a capacity to hold 9,100 vehicles. Maryland Port Administration Deputy Executive Director Matt Wypyski welcomed the vessel and presented an official Port of Baltimore ship’s wheel to Captain Victor Escamilla. In 2024, the Port of Baltimore handled about 750,000 cars and light trucks, second-most among all U.S. ports.
