Next week, join us for a bus tour of two Passive House Massachusetts multifamily Phius projects on October 9 in the Greater Boston area from 12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 🚌🏢 This tour is for design and construction teams working on their first Phius multifamily projects. Each of the two sites will feature lessons learned from architects, CPHCs, verifiers, and general contractors who have completed multiple Phius projects. The Boston site has achieved Phius certification and has two new Phius buildings in early construction. The Brookline site is in later stages of construction. Both sites will include a tour component and will provide practitioner advice on best practices, how to avoid common mistakes, and how to keep things on schedule and budget. MassCEC on Friday announced over $16 million in grants to invest in planning, capacity, training, and equipment for climate-critical jobs in the #cleanenergy and #climatetech sector. Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Undersecretary Katherine Antos and MassCEC CEO Emily Reichert announced the awards alongside local officials at Brockton High School, which is the state’s largest high school and a grant recipient. The awards will help more than 200 Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses (MWBEs) in climate-critical sectors by providing support for business creation and expansion. Additionally, over 1,850 participants will benefit from training programs, with a focus on increasing access to #EnvironmentalJustice (EJ) communities. The programs will also raise awareness of clean energy careers for over 600 learners and provide improved training and access to modern equipment for over 1,700 students and job seekers. MassCEC has chosen New Bedford’s 19th-century Counting House as the site for its new Ocean Renewable Energy Innovation Center. 🌊 This facility will serve as a research hub, testing center, and coworking space all in one location, supporting and expanding the South Coast region's leading role in ocean renewable energy and ocean #climatetech.
