We drive capital toward effective solutions for underserved communities, using data and rigorous analysis to guide our decisions. By harnessing the scale, expertise and risk tolerance of the private sector in service of the public good, we’re demonstrating what’s possible with mission-focused, flexible capital. Our approach is informed by deep expertise in finance, entrepreneurship and social justice. We provide financing across asset classes to fund strategies and enterprises that transform communities. Our flagship funds are: - The Community Outcomes Fund - The Social Entrepreneurs Fund We’re named for Maycomb County, the setting of Harper Lee’s classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Lee used Maycomb, a fictional district in Depression-era Alabama, as a backdrop for her universal story of the pursuit of justice. Her story sparked conversations about equity that still resonate today. Maycomb seeks to continue this dialogue, bringing innovative ideas to light through action.

We’re reflecting on last month’s Sorenson Impact Summit where Andi Phillips spoke alongside Jeffrey Cyr of Raven Indigenous Impact Foundation in a Q&A led by Janis Dubno, MBA of Sorenson Impact. The group shared their takeaways from a decade of outcomes-based financing and their hopes for the future of outcomes financed, community-led projects. Andi shared an important lesson learned in her early days in impact investing: “If you had that pool of flexible capital, it gave you the ability to be much more responsive to community need. And by being responsive to community need, we could drive bigger impact.” Read more here from their conversation on the evolution and growth of outcomes-based financing. https://lnkd.in/eHdScWSk

We were thrilled to attend the homecoming celebration of Ms. Connie McMillian this past week in Volusia County, Florida. After sustaining extreme property damage from Hurricane Ian, Ms. McMillian quickly accessed critical home repairs. We’re honored to be working with SBP in partnership with Credit Human and Volusia County to provide urgent financial resources to homeowners so they can rebuild and return home faster in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
On Wednesday, July 17th, SBP hosted a ceremonial homecoming for Ms. Connie McMillian, a survivor of Hurricane Ian whose home in Volusia County, Florida was rebuilt through SBP’s Recovery Acceleration Fund in collaboration with Volusia County, Maycomb Capital, and Credit Human. SBP’s Recovery Acceleration Fund is a scalable social impact investment fund to assist disaster survivors who don’t have the means to repair their homes on their own. The RAF program is now enrolling more clients in Volusia County thanks to our partnership with Maycomb Capital and Credit Human, and thanks to the innovative collaboration with the Volusia County government.

In the wake of natural disasters, low-income families suffer disproportionately, often sustaining extreme property damage or losing their homes altogether. We are honored to be working with SBP with support from Credit Human to provide urgent financial resources to low-income homeowners in Florida in need of home repairs after Hurricane Ian. SBP's Recovery Acceleration Fund will improve disaster response time in at-risk communities. Taken together, this effort will be the first ever disaster recovery fund in the state of Florida launched through outcomes financing. #impactinvesting #outcomesfinancing
We're excited to announce a new partnership between SBP and Maycomb Capital to speed up recovery for disaster-affected communities. With a $2M debt investment from Maycomb, and with support from lending partner Credit Human, SBP’s Recovery Acceleration Fund will provide the upfront capital needed to finance home repairs for disaster survivors who lack the means to rebuild on their own. SBP’s innovative social impact fund ensures that homeowners affected by #HurricaneIan in Florida can rebuild much faster–and return home. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gXXsMcSS

Congratulations to Sorenson Impact and Raven Indigenous Impact Foundation for putting together this incredible report on the state of OBF in Canada. Great work Alan Lo, MBA, Janis Dubno, MBA, Jeffrey Cyr and Rebecca Waterhouse! Thanks for including Maycomb Capital's work.
Outcomes-based Finance (OBF) is a powerful tool that brings about change by flipping the traditional way of funding social or environmental programs to focus on outcomes rather than outputs or inputs. For Raven, OBF offers a direct pathway to the realization of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples & the Truth and Reconciliation of Canada 94 Calls to Action. For more information on how OBF is currently working in Canada, the benefits of this finance model and recommendations for how it can be better utilized, read the new report from Raven Indigenous Impact Foundation & Sorenson Impact on the State of OBF in Canada in 2023. #OutcomesFinance #OBF #Canada #UNDRIP #TRC94 For report: https://riif.ca/research/ https://lnkd.in/gg7tHted
