At our October 2024 board meeting, Len David delivered the following D’var Torah to the MAZON board and staff. His message deeply resonated and we wanted to share his words about hope, action, and the work we can accomplish together with our broader community. We hope his words will stay with you, as they have with the team at MAZON. #Election2024 https://loom.ly/x_zLlWI
About us
MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger is a national nonprofit organization working to end hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds in the United States and Israel. MAZON, which means “food” or “sustenance” in Hebrew, was the first national organization to rally the American Jewish community around the issue of hunger, and remains the only national Jewish organization dedicated exclusively to that same cause. MAZON works to ensure that hungry people have access to the resources they need to survive while simultaneously striving to develop and advance long-term solutions that will end hunger once and for all. The three interrelated strategies we employ – advocacy & education, partnership grants and strategic initiatives – form the foundation for our holistic approach and symbolize our desire to embody the Jewish ideals: tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (healing the world).

This is an important & comprehensive update about #MilitaryHunger and the diversity of opinions & hurdles we’ve been facing for 12+ years. It’s clear that the best & most immediate solution to truly support #MilitaryFamilies is to ensure they can access SNAP, the cornerstone of our country’s nutrition #SafetyNet. This must be a priority in the next #FarmBill. https://loom.ly/p6A9cws

Ghosts, mummies and witches might be scary, but so is the knowledge that hunger in our country is a solvable issue- but our elected officials are too caught up in partisan politics to come together and ensure that everyone in our country has enough to eat. Want to join us in the fight to #MakeHunger History? You can take action by emailing your elected officials here: https://loom.ly/rRSKqD4 👻
