As we reflect on #BlackHistoryMonth, we at #MBRDNA are grateful for the meaningful conversations and connections made throughout February. This year, our IGNITE business resource group focused on the theme, “African Americans and Labor,” and honored automotive industry giants for their distinguished work and philanthropic efforts. We were thrilled to host three exceptional speakers who shared their remarkable career journeys with our employees: To kick off our events for the month, we hosted Rodney (Rod) Reid, a prominent figure in American motorsports, at our Farmington Hills office for an engaging and insightful discussion about professional racing and karting. Rod’s non-profit, NXG Youth Motorsports, Inc., leverages karting as a STEM teaching tool for kids and offers them an introduction to the world of motorsports. Rod shared his success in placing multiple students in the IndyCar series as well as building a team under Force Indy in the IndyCar system where everyone can thrive. Georges Massing, Senior VP of MB.OS Automated Driving & E/E Integration, also joined us in Long Beach to speak about his personal journey, his passion for giving back through his Cameroon–based non-profit, and trailblazers who paved the way for future generations. With Germany and the United States sharing the same Black History Month, February, he emphasized the wonderful heritage of the Black community, recognizing the progress made and the legacy left behind by those who fought for equality and opportunity for all. His dedication to seizing every opportunity, and his commitment to hard work and community, are what drive him, traits which many of us at MBRDNA can relate to. Last but not the least, renowned artist and Mercedes-Benz AMG Ambassador, will.i.am, joined us in Long Beach to share his journey from his upbringing in Los Angeles to becoming a Grammy Award-winning musician, a creative innovator, and a passionate advocate for education and technology. He discussed his collaboration with Mercedes-Benz in creating the groundbreaking MBUX Sound Drive, a revolutionary audio experience that merges cutting-edge technology with unparalleled musical artistry. Additionally, employees and will.i.am brought in their cars and special projects for a Cars and Coffee event. Will.i.am mingled with employees, with everyone discussing their cars and sharing their passion for automotive design and innovation. 📷 José M. Mazas Thank you to our incredible speakers and to everyone who participated in our Black History Month events. Big shoutout to IGNITE resource group for organizing and hosting these events. The conversations we started will continue to inspire our work throughout the year!
