In honor of National Intern Day, we're highlighting DaNia Patterson, preconstruction intern in our Kansas City office! DaNia attends Tuskegee University and is pursuing a dual major—architecture and construction science management. She has spent her summer working on detailed project estimates, reviewing bid quotes and building a robust network for her future career. DaNia's passion for the construction industry stems from her fascination with witnessing an idea evolve from a concept to reality, and we're excited to see her continue to grow and thrive! Our internship program is instrumental in shaping the future success of McCownGordon by nurturing and developing talented individuals who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the team. Last week, we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Metropolitan Community College-Kansas City Automotive Institute in collaboration with LM2 CONSTRUCTION and DLR Group! Aimed to provide better access to facilities and enhanced programs, the addition and renovation includes new vehicle high bays, classrooms, industry partner space, an expanded collision lab, and a new space for the upcoming diesel program! MCC continues to invest in our future workforce and we are so proud to play a part in the journey. Stay tuned for the progress!

Introducing the NavVis VLX 3 scanner! 💥 What was once a time-consuming and labor-intensive effort to document as-built conditions with a traditional laser scanner is now a quick and seamless process with simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) scanning. Our in-house VDC team recently leveraged the new technology at a biofuel production facility in Kansas, scanning the entire project (over 85,000 SF of complex space) in less than an hour. Using a traditional scanner would have likely taken two or three days to collect the same data, likely encountering several challenges along the way. Once the scan data was processed, a 3D point cloud model was shared with the design team, which allowed them to develop a fully coordinated design model in a matter of days compared to weeks. Take a peek at one of our latest projects in Texas—Williams High School for Plano ISD in collaboration with PBK! ✏📚 The project aims to transform and modernize the high school by remodeling corridors, relocating restrooms and electrical rooms, and creating new classroom wings in existing space across eleven phases over 30 months. It involves extensive demolition and redesign of the kitchen and cafeteria, additions and renovations to the athletic field house, raising ceiling heights to 19 feet in corridors, and upgrading campus-wide plumbing and electrical systems. The team has been hard at work this summer while school is out. We just finished steel erection for the new clerestory corridor and are actively working on several classrooms along with the choir and fine arts centers. Next up - turning over around 10 classrooms to ensure the 2024-2025 school year is a success! The Dallas interns and Women In Leadership BRG paired up to volunteer at the Genesis Benefit Thrift Store in Dallas. 👏 The Genesis Benefit Thrift Store has been a cornerstone in the Dallas community for more than 20 years, providing a safe space for all to shop for a cause—supporting women and children who have experienced domestic violence. The team greeted customers, merchandised inventory and assisted in the donation drive-thru center. Way to go, team! #BuildingDFW #CreateTomorrowTogether

We are thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the new State of Missouri Laboratory Campus in Jefferson City in collaboration with Multistudio!🔬🎉 The new state-of-the-art campus will serve as a one-stop-shop housing five state agencies, including the Department of Health and Senior Services, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, Department of Conservation, and the Missouri Highway Patrol.
