Our EDC team (Kimberly Propst, MPA & Nathan Huret) had a fantastic time joining colleagues from across the Charlotte Region for a familiarization tour with site selectors from McGuireWoods Consulting, NAI Global , Global Location Strategies, and Colliers International. The tour featured some of the best highlights the Charlotte Region has to offer, including stops at Bank of America Stadium, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, and a thrilling experience at the Roval 400 at America's home for racing, Charlotte Motor Speedway! This weekend-long event gave each of the region’s 14 communities the chance to showcase their unique advantages for business. We proudly highlighted Catawba County’s 425+ manufacturers, our robust higher education and industry training programs (Lenoir-Rhyne University | Appalachian State University | Catawba Valley Community College | ), and the standalone economic strength of the Hickory Metro. A big thank you to the site consultants for spending their weekend with us and to the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance team (Gretchen | Rob | Kylie | Temerrill) for organizing this great event! #BusinessGrowth #EconomicDevelopment #CatawbaCounty #HickoryMetro #CharlotteRegion #ManufacturingHub #SiteSelection

With many thanks to the Virginia Municipal League - VML for highlighting the Northern Virginia Regional Commission's map on data centers and local government facilities in the region. There is a great opportunity to utilize the excess heat from data centers for other uses. Super work by Jill Kaneff, Rebecca Murphy and Dale Medearis on this project. We are offering free webinar on 10/22 featuring Preston Bryant of McGuireWoods Consulting and Noah Nkonge, Heat Export Lead, for Equinix on this very subject matter. https://lnkd.in/dJvVF67z
