On June 20-21, SVP James Sherwood, AVP Henry Mohn, and research associate Beth Martin of MWC’s Illinois team organized the Illinois Economic Development Association’s (IEDA) 2024 Summit in downtown Chicago. The annual event brought together over 150 economic developers from across Illinois, including representatives of local economic development organizations, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), Intersect Illinois, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, Ameren Illinois, ComEd, Nicor Gas, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, real estate developers, and various other companies. Presenters included Illinois Deputy Governor for Budget and Economy Andy Manar, DCEO Director Kristen Richards, other DCEO officials, Intersect Illinois officials, Tom Baron of the U.S. Economic Development Administration’s Chicago office, and a legislative update from James Sherwood. The event also featured panel discussions on Talent Attraction; Powering Illinois: The Role of Energy in Economic Development; Development, Building Reuse, Housing, and Resources; and Recent Development Trends: Reshoring of Manufacturing and Inflation Reduction Act Opportunities. Following presentations on June 20, attendees enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at an outdoor networking reception at a patio along the #Chicago River. IEDA is a statewide organization promoting economic development in #Illinois since 1980. MWC represents IEDA for #lobbying in #Springfield and comprehensive association management services. The team actively monitors and provides testimony on legislation impacting economic development. Beth Martin serves as IEDA’s interim executive director, and along with Henry Mohn, they lead the association’s membership, communications, events, and reporting. #il #econdev #ieda
