The Denver community is working to transform their community and our planet with a bold vision and aggressive goals for a more resilient, zero-carbon future. City and County of Denver Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency - City and County of Denver Denver Public Schools
City and County of Denver // Community Solar Program // McKinstry #ESCOWeek For the past several years, McKinstry has been a proud partner of the City and County of Denver. More recently, Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency (CASR) has been working to rapidly and equitably transition the city to 100% renewable electricity by 2030. To accomplish that goal, the city made a $26 million investment in a Community Solar program, increasing equitable access to clean energy in Denver. The Renewable Denver Community Solar Program is one of the biggest investments to date of the Climate Protection Fund, an over $40 million annual fund dedicated to taking climate action. Several of the sites will be implemented at another McKinstry partner, Denver Public Schools. The first Denver Public School site launched in October 2023. Once completed, the 16 city-wide community solar gardens will produce 9.6 million kWh per year, avoiding emissions equivalent to taking 1,000 cars off the road. McKinstry, a long-time energy partner for both the City and County of Denver and Denver Public Schools, is designing and deploying each of the 16 community solar gardens. Once complete, these gardens will: - Power buildings with 100% renewable energy. - Provide shade and cooling during the summer months. - Donate electricity to give families relief on their utility bills. https://lnkd.in/gjDtyup5 Read more about this project here: https://lnkd.in/gvySiAH9

Panelists including Leslie Larocque, Joseph Allen, Anisa Heming and Mark Hershey discussed improvements that are urgently needed in the built environment of K-12 classrooms and the challenges that make them difficult, including insufficient funding and staff shortages. The event provided public school district leaders and industry experts an open exchange of ideas on critical topics such as resiliency, decarbonization and indoor environmental quality in K-12 schools. https://lnkd.in/geUCtfpu
