Innovative Design. Trusted Performance.
About us
Since 1969, Mecho® has been a trusted partner to architects and designers to help bring their design visions to life. Responding to the growing and evolving needs of the architectural and design communities, Mecho is at the forefront of revolutionizing window shades, effectively creating a new industry. Mecho thrives in hard-to-solve design and technical challenges and embraces “the unbreakable spec”— those unique projects that call for shading non-rectangular, sloping, high, wide, monumental, difficult-to-access, and other non-standard windows. Mecho has the solution that architects and designers specify to get the job done right. Mecho’s product line includes the manual Mecho 5, the motorized ElectroShade®, and revolutionary solutions such as SolarTrac®, an automated shading system that tracks the sun and automatically adjusts ElectroShades throughout a defined space, entire building or complete campus. Mecho’s innovation and “thinking outside the box” approach applies advanced science to important sustainability goals. The manual Mecho®/5 with eco-friendly EcoVeil® shadecloth has been recognized as Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM Bronze products by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. EcoVeil® and our time-tested ThermoVeil® sunscreen are some of the more than 300 textiles now offered in a range of densities, weaves, openness, and colors to satisfy the unique demands of curtain-wall applications, glass types, geographical orientations, locations, and aesthetics. Not to brag, but we’ve earned dozens of awards, are asked for by the world’s leading architects and designers, and are recognized today as “best in class” by a new generation of creatives and builders. From protecting art to highlighting architectural elements to improving occupant performance, Mecho will configure solutions that will meet your needs. Our engineers, designers, and product specialists eagerly wait for your next design. We dare you to imagine it.

Smart, hybrid workspaces are the future. At Cisco's PENN1 Office in New York City, workspaces prioritizing comfort, well-being, and productivity are designed to attract employees to the office. Additionally, increasing connectedness with those online creates an overall more productive and positive work environment. I had the pleasure of spending time with the Mecho business development team to deep dive our products, strategies, and to see an extremely innovative use case at Cisco's building on Georgia Institute of Technology's campus in Atlanta where power and data was supplied to numerous devices by ethernet (PoE). Virtually all spaces were highly connected with #smartdevices. This building takes #IoT #healthandwellness #productivity of occupants to a #futuristic state! We let our work speak for itself. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Headquarters has a unique sustainability strategy: an on-site wastewater recycling system, a roof-mounted photovoltaic array, vertical-axis wind turbines, and an earthquake-resilient concrete structure. Additionally, with the inclusion of Mecho's automated shading system, SolarTrac, this 13-story glass tower requires up to 45% less energy to illuminate its interior than typical Class A office buildings. We are proud that our shade cloths and manual roller shades were among the first in the window coverings product category to obtain Type III Product-Specific EPDs last year. Our team is committed to providing innovative and sustainable solutions that exceed project needs. Learn more about EPDs and our manual shading systems in our blog linked below. https://lnkd.in/d4mwuagW #Mecho #MechoShade #MechoSystems #buildingtransparency #materialtransparency #producttransparency #EPDs #manualshades #sustainability
Building a greener, more sustainable future requires collaboration and transparency across the AEC industry. 🤝 Today, alongside several members of the contractorsCAN (Carbon Action Network), we call on building material manufacturers to take a stand for the environment and obtain product-specific Environmental Product Declarations. ➡️ EPDs provide clear, credible information about the life-cycle environmental performance of products. This transparency is crucial for making informed choices that align with sustainability goals and for promoting environmentally friendly practices within the construction industry. We recognize that there have been hurdles in the path to adopt EPDs. We believe the long-term environmental and economic benefits outweigh these costs – and there are resources available to reduce the financial impact. Now is the time to take action. 📣 The signatories of this letter, representing approximately $44 billion in annual construction revenue, are already seeing an increasing demand for EPDs in legislative requirements and contract language. Manufacturers who proactively obtain EPDs will be leading the way for the industry – pioneers of a greener built environment. 🌱🌎 🔗 Get started with more information about how to obtain EPDs on Building Transparency’s web page: https://lnkd.in/g-5PB2uY #Sustainability #EnvironmentalImpact #EPDs #Construction #BuildingMaterials #GreenBuilding #ClimateAction #contractorsCAN #BuildingTransparency Skanska, Holder Construction, Mortensen, EllisDon, HITT Contracting Inc., Clayco, Swinerton, Lamar Johnson Collaborative

CISCO is leading the revolution for smart, hybrid work environments at their Talent and Collaboration Center in Atlanta. Hosting our BDM training where PoE and smart, customizable shading solutions from Mecho are utilized was an honor! Learn more about this project and the products used by clicking the link below. https://lnkd.in/gXmEkmT3
Earlier this week, Candy Cooper McDowall and John Petrovic traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Mecho BDM training, which was held at CISCO’s Collaboration Center. Why were they taking a Mecho training at CISCO? Great question! It turns out CISCO used Mecho’s shading solutions for their entire headquarters and integrated PoE (Power over Ethernet) into the project. The use of POE helps to regulate light and temperature within the building. CISCO used Mecho’s IQ3DC motors and Eurotwill shade cloth for this project. The goal of the CISCO project was for the corporate space to be one that “earned the commute” and made it worthwhile for employees to be in the office. Employees were especially impressed by the comfortable environment Mecho helped create. https://lnkd.in/gkbF2Zwa
