Today, Casey Logan, P.E. assumed the role of President and CEO of MEC and EMPOWER Broadband. Casey joined our team as Chief Operating Officer in May 2023, and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the electric and fiber industries. Leaders from Microsoft, B.J. Seamans from Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative and ODEC CEO John Lee, recently spoke on a panel at the 2024 CFC Forum. They did a deep dive into what makes a territory attractive for potential data center growth, and discussed the operational side of managing the relationship between a power supplier and a large, data-center load.

Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon for the MEC Annual Membership Meeting! We greatly enjoyed visiting with our Members and would like to thank everyone that came out to be a part of the cooperative’s business meeting. It was a bittersweet event as we commended John Lee for his many years of service as President/CEO and welcomed our incoming leader, Casey Logan, P.E.. MEC was proud to host several employees from Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC), our generation and transmission cooperative, today for their “Day in the Life” program. ODEC employees were able to speak to representatives of each department at MEC to learn more about the distribution side of providing electricity, and they even got to visit several of our larger substations as well as a jobsite where one of our crews was replacing a pole.
