About us
MedGlobal is a humanitarian charitable non-governmental organization that provides emergency response and health programs to build resilience among vulnerable communities around the world. Our health programs support victims of wars and disasters, refugees, internally displaced persons, and marginalized communities in disaster-affected and low-resource settings. MedGlobal was launched in 2017 by a diverse group of doctors, nurses, global health specialists, and humanitarians to address the health needs of the most vulnerable populations. MedGlobal partners with local communities to address their health priorities, builds resilience through training and education and deploys healthcare volunteers, and donates medical equipment, medications and supplies. MedGlobal field teams support local health programs for vulnerable populations in North and Latin America, Africa, MENA region, Europe, and Southeast Asia. Our growing field teams and partner organizations are supported by selfless volunteer nurses, and medical professionals of all specialties from 27 countries who embrace our mission.

Five MedGlobal healthcare and humanitarian staff have been detained in Gaza, and we are gravely concerned for their safety. With limited communication, we urgently call for their immediate release and urge the warring parties, international leaders, human rights organizations, and the global community to take decisive action to safeguard healthcare and humanitarian aid workers in Gaza and demand strict adherence to international laws protecting medical personnel in conflict zones.

With heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of Ibrahim Hussam Abu Safiya, son of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, MedGlobal lead physician and Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital. Ibrahim, a young teenager known for his kindness, warmth, and joyful spirit, has left this world too soon. Civilians, healthcare workers, and their families are not a target. We stand in solidarity with Dr. Hussam, his family, and all impacted families in these times of unimaginable loss. #NotATarget

Healthcare workers are #NotATarget. MedGlobal condemns the arrest of our colleague Mahmoud Lubbad, Nursing Director at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, and calls for his immediate release. We urge the international community to protect all medical staff risking their lives to provide critical care in Gaza. #NotATarget #ProtectHealthcareWorkers

“We’ve called on the world to open a humanitarian corridor so we can provide essential services, but sadly, there are no resources or supplies to treat the people. This is our reality. Every day, every hour, we lose more patients, the wounded, and the injured. There are many injuries, some of which develop into severe infections and result in death because we lack antibiotics and other vital supplies. We’ve repeatedly stated that this hospital is in dire need of resources and equipment.”

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital and MedGlobal’s lead physician in Gaza. Dr. Abu Safiya’s hospital in northern Gaza is besieged, putting hundreds of remaining medical workers and patients – including children in the pediatric and neonatal ICU – in mortal peril. “The situation is catastrophic in every sense of the word. Meanwhile, patients are still lying on the floors of the reception and emergency areas, with many in critical condition. There are no resources, supplies, or specialists to save these children’s lives.”
