Team Medica is officially in the Halloween spirit 👻 Last weekend several our Employee Resource Groups both in MN and WI participated in multiple community Trunk or Treat events! We had a blast handing out candy 🍭 and connecting with our community partners! Have a great and safe Halloween!

From a great event this week in Watertown, South Dakota meeting over 300 people and helping many of them enroll in our Medicare Advantage plans (they got to meet our new Chief Operating Officer Adam Hjerpe too) to several successful broker events in Omaha, Missouri and Wisconsin, plus a coffee ☕ and donut 🍩 sales kit pick-up drive-thru at our Minnetonka parking lot--we are here for our agents, members and awesome communities we serve every step of the way!

Last week our team in Omaha was the proud sponsor of the "Breaking the Silence" event held at the Holland Performing Arts Center. The keynote speaker was Ali Astin-- daughter of acclaimed actor, Sean Astin and grand-daughter of Academy Award winning actress, Patty Duke. Ali is a third generation mental health advocate and has long been sharing her journey. Thank you to the Community Alliance Center for Mental Health for your support and partnership on helping to fund and create more resources for mental health awareness.
In honor of 🌍 Mental Health Day--we thought it would be appropriate to announce a recent initiative to support Washburn Center For Children. 💠 This week we gifted this amazing organization $1.35 million dollars to support its school-based mental health programs. 💠 The gift was presented Wednesday morning at their Dawn of Hope breakfast event. 💠 Youth mental health remains a top concern for educators and the health care community. In a recent survey by the University of Minnesota, almost 94% of principals agreed that student mental health challenges represent a major barrier to student learning at their schools. 💠 Washburn Center helps address these challenges with nearly 200 community-based clinicians working with more than 4,000 children in homes, schools, hospital and clinic settings-- the funding from Medica will support the expansion of Washburn's school-based services.

Congratulations to our award winners: 🎖️ Allina Health received the Member Engagement award for an ⬆️ in members being seen for preventative care. 🎖️ Park Nicollet Health Services received the Stewardship Award for a ⬇️ in risk adjusted per member per month. 🎖️ Nebraska Health Network received the Quality Award for best overall performance in colon and breast cancer screenings. 🎖️ M Health Fairview won the People's Choice Creative Courage award with an idea to improve value-based care. 🎖️ UnityPoint Health in Des Moines received the Value-Based Care Ambassador award for its engagement with providers.
