Yesterday, we had a blast with the Marigold team and some exceptional guests at Louie restaurant in Covent Garden. I had the opportunity to chair a panel alongside three exceptional guests, Rachael Thornton, Charlie Hills CLMP, and JC Mighty, and discuss all things personalisation. 🌟 My three key takeaways and biggest learnings from the session were: ↳ Data collection is just one part of the personalisation process. Marketers must understand why they collect specific data points and how these will enhance the customer experience. ↳ When personalising content, it's crucial to balance subtle suggestions with direct recommendations. Too many suggestions can overwhelm, while overly direct recommendations may feel intrusive. The right balance ensures the customer feels guided, not pressured. ↳ Cross-team collaboration is crucial for demonstrating program ROI and driving overall performance improvement. Marketing teams should work closely with commercial and finance departments to ensure alignment across initiatives, thereby future-proofing the overall marketing strategy. I enjoy panels like this because they are an opportunity to hear from real-life experiences and how other marketing professionals solve challenges, innovate, and disrupt the customer journey with delightful and bespoke experiences.
