The Clay Family Eastern Glades came alive last Saturday with the first concert of the Live at Live Oak music series, presented by H-E-B! The evening was filled with vibrant music and festivities that united more than 800 guests in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. The weather was perfect and the energy was high as families and friends gathered to enjoy a live performance by CTS Band who infused the event with lively Latin rhythms to celebrate Hispanic culture. Remarks were delivered by Veronica Chapa Gorczynski, Chair of the Memorial Park Conservancy Board. More than 450 complimentary beers from Eureka Heights Brewing Co., 1,200 non-alcoholic drinks, and 1,000 tacos were given away for FREE to all attendees! Attendees mingled, danced, and celebrated together, creating a sense of community and joy that will undoubtedly carry through the rest of the series. A huge thanks to our partners at H-E-B for helping make this event possible and thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy a wonderful evening at the Park. Save the date for the next Live at Live Oak event on October 26! RSVP and stay tuned for details: https://bit.ly/3ZFl9oJ

There is still time to discover the stories of Camp Logan with our annual historic interactive audio installation. 🎧 The audio stories are accessible through QR codes around the Clay Family Eastern Glades until September 30. The exhibit pays tribute to the African American soldiers who were assigned to guard the construction of Camp Logan and were unjustly convicted and court-martialed following the tragic events of August 23, 1917. Nineteen soldiers were executed. Their convictions were set aside by the U.S. Army on November 13, 2023, opening a new chapter of history for the United States, Houston and Memorial Park! 👉 Learn more about the audio stories and plan your visit: https://bit.ly/3X2KzK2
