Mend Turns 2! 🎉 We are thrilled to celebrate our second anniversary at Mend Collaborative! Over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of working with inspiring leaders, vibrant communities, and critical ecological areas. To mark this milestone, our collaborators from both offices came together to participate in volunteer events in forest ecosystems. The Minneapolis office partnered with Great River Greening at the Sunktokeca Creek Watershed Management Area. Sunktokeca Creek is a 200 acre area including marsh habitat along with former cropland that will be restored to prairie. Our efforts were concentrated on the forest bordering the cropland, where we seeded understory species while a herd of goats helped by munching away on the invasive buckthorn leaves. The Austin office joined Keep Austin Beautiful at Montopolis Fields and McElhaney Oak Grove. The Oak Grove is a Watershed Protection Department property with beautiful old oak trees, riparian woodland, a stream and pond. Our efforts were concentrated on reducing the presence of non-native, invasive Ligustrum species, and replanting and sowing seed to increase biodiversity in the woodland.
