About us

Merryfield is an omnichannel shopper engagement network and consumer insights solution for better-for-you brands. Merryfield’s participating brands include Stonyfield Organic, Applegate, Health-Ade, Organic Valley, Athletic Brewing, Daily Harvest, and more. We help CPG brands, both large and small, attract new customers and better understand their market. Our services include brand discovery, shopper marketing, and special programs. We use digital sampling to encourage product trials and support the launch of new retail brands. Our strategies include in-store retail media and brand activations, utilizing gamified advertising to educate and engage consumers directly at the shelf.     Our Co-Founder and Head of Standards & Policy, Joe Dickson, is in Washington DC this week, meeting with organic industry leaders and legislators on a number of critical initiatives to help support and grow organic agriculture, strengthen organic standards, and provide much needed resources to farmers, processors and others transitioning to organic. Thanks to the Organic Trade Association for convening such an impactful gathering in #organicweekdc.

We love his delicious collection of cookie dough snack bars and ready-to-bake cookie dough that’s plant-based and contains absolutely no artificial ingredients, gluten, dairy or soy.     We love a good back story on a better-for-you brand — and Artisan Tropic’s origin story does not disappoint. Launched in 2014 by the Guzman family, Artisan Tropic both honors their Colombian roots and provides a smart solution to their search for healthier snacks. Founder Maca Guzman’s diagnosis with an autoimmune disease in 2012 inspired the family to adopt a holistic diet and search for more nutritious foods using indigenous ingredients grown with regenerative agriculture. They created plantain and cassava strips that are gluten-free, non-GMO, Paleo, plant-based, glyphosate residue free, and RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) Certified.  Artisan Tropic is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and they’re committed to sourcing 100% of palm oil and palm oil derivatives from RSPO certified physical supply chains.     Artificial colors are in the news again: California Assembly member Jesse Gabriel recently proposed legislation that would prohibit California public schools from serving foods containing prohibit schools from serving foods containing six synthetic food dyes (Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, and Green 3) as well as titanium dioxide, a coloring agent that is often used in sunscreens, cosmetics, paints, and plastics. “As a lawmaker, a parent, and someone who struggled with ADHD, I find it unacceptable that we allow schools to serve foods with additives that are linked to cancer, hyperactivity, and neurobehavioral harms,” Gabriel stated. “This bill will empower schools to better protect the health and wellbeing of our kids and encourage manufacturers to stop using these dangerous additives.” What do we think about artificial colors? Our Co-Founder and Head of Standards and Policy Joe Dickson weighs in: “There are plenty of reasons to use precaution. In the EU and UK, products with certain artificial colors and flavors need to carry a warning label, stating “May have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.” Closer to home, the connection with ADHD and Hyperactivity led California lawmakers in 2018 to authorize the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) to conduct a full review of the safety of artificial colors. The agency’s final report, released in 2021, found strong connections between synthetic food dyes and hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral problems in children.
