On Wednesday, Miami Jewish Health celebrated the retirement of Leslee Geller after 44 incredible years of dedicated service. Throughout her tenure, Leslee consistently demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to providing compassionate care and support to those who sought our services. As a gesture of gratitude, and to mark the place that she’s called “home” for so many years, we proudly dedicated the Hazel Cypen Tower’s Private Dining room in her honor. Leslee, your kindness, generosity of spirit, and dedication has touched the lives of so many, and your legacy will continue to inspire us all for years to come. #ThankYou #HappyRetirement #CypenTowers #MiamiJewishHealth #LiveLifeBetter

Miami Jewish Health’s “Come Sit With Us” initiative, inspired and designed by local artist, Caryn Frishman, offers families and residents a beautiful way to honor, memorialize, and pay tribute to family, friends or special moments. Recently, we had the honor to dedicate a personalized bench aptly named “Cascading Love for Phyllis,” in memory of a cherished Miami Jewish Health resident, Phyllis Metz. This heartfelt tribute was dedicated by her loving daughter, Lori Metz. Through this gift from the heart, Lori was able to honor her mother. Mrs. Metz cherished spending time admiring the lush gardens and 300-year-old Kapok trees on our campus. To learn more about how you too can preserve a special memory through a commemorative bench, please contact Aimee Siegel-Harris at 305.762.3840 or visit us online at: https://lnkd.in/eWk357tb #Livelifebetter #philanthropy #ComeSitWithUs

While there is still no cure for Alzheimer's, there's hope in prevention. On last night's CBS4 Miami's special, Illuminating Alzheimer's, Lauren Pastrana interviewed Dr Agronin, Chief Medical Officer of the Frank C. and Lynn Scaduto MIND Institute at Miami Jewish Health, about our Alzheimer’s Prevention Program. Designed to keep aging minds sharp participants like Charles and Jacqueline James, who were also featured, decided to take a proactive approach with their cognitive health by joining the program. Dr. Agronin explains, “Prevention is a new buzzword. We know from research that about 40% of risk factors can be modified. Even though you can’t change your genes, there’s so much more we can do to identify and reduce these risk factors.” Watch the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eMgcCXkH (https://lnkd.in/eMgcCXkH) #AlzheimersAwareness #BrainHealth #Prevention #HealthyAging #MiamiJewishHealth #FrankCandLynnScadutoMINDInstitute #LiveLifeBetter

As we continue to acknowledge Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, did you know that 580,000 Floridians are living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia? Evidence strongly suggests that individuals can reduce cognitive decline through a brain-healthy lifestyle. At the Frank C. and Lynn Scaduto MIND Institute at Miami Jewish Health, a recognized State of Florida memory disorder clinic, we are committed to promoting brain health. Our Meaningful MINDS program is a unique brain fitness program designed to engage and enhance cognition and behavior for those with mild to moderate cognitive impairment. This program bolsters cognitive strengths and limitations through targeted and stimulating discussions, activities, and computerized training. If you knew you were likely to have Alzheimer’s in the future, what would you do? 🧠💭 Dr. Marc E. Agronin, Alzheimer’s expert and the chief medical officer at the Frank C. and Lynn Scaduto Mind Institute at Miami Jewish Health, says, 'The real question is – and the risk is – if you identify people at that stage, what are you going to do about it because we don’t fully know the spectrum of courses that will unfold over time.' Yesterday, we launched iCARE, our employee giving program designed to foster a sense of purpose and collective impact at Miami Jewish Health. We know that employee giving is a powerful force that transforms workplaces into compassionate communities, which is why we wanted to take a moment to recognize those employees who are already giving from the heart. Special thanks to @MonisSweets for their support in making the day even sweeter. To learn more about iCARE, or to join your fellow employees in support of a brighter future for the seniors in our care, click here: https://lnkd.in/e9cDWEDa
