🌏 We're excited to announce that Mitti Labs has been selected for an award by NASA Ames Research Center! 🛰️ This NASA Carbon Monitoring System award lead by Joanne Hall, Ph.D. will allow us to continue enhancing accuracy and reliability of crop-residue burning emissions for national greenhouse gas inventories in a climate-smart framework’ with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, USDA, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 🔥 🌾 Crop residue burning plays a critical role in the carbon cycle influencing emissions, soil health and cropland productivity. We will help improve Global Cropland Area Burned (GloCAB) products and emissions quantification with tillage management information derived from remote sensing, ML, and ground data for hotspots around the world. Watch this space as we develop cutting edge technology to improve detection of cropland burning!!!

I’m a big fan of MCJ Collective so it’s very exciting to see them cover our work at Mitti Labs 🌏🌾 Please read this piece on the impact rice farming currently has on the environment and our solution to reduce methane and water-use while improving small-holder farmer livelihoods. Thai Nguyen Jenn Beening
Most people think beef and almond milk are the worst foods for the planet. But rice, a staple for 3.5 billion people, has a huge carbon footprint, comparable to the aviation industry. 🌍 In the latest MCJ newsletter, Xavier Laguarta Soler from Mitti Labs explores how innovative farming practices can cut methane emissions by over 40% and conserve 30% more water. 🚜🌱 Learn how these solutions are transforming rice farming, moving the voluntary carbon market forward, and boosting farmer livelihoods. 🌿

🌏 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our climate-smart projects which are supporting 30,000 small-holder rice farmers across India. 🌾 At Mitti Labs, we’re reimagining rice projects from the ground up to develop the most transparent and trustworthy methane reduction programs - empowering companies to invest in #nature confidently.Through our projects, we have seen farmers reduce #water usage by 40%, #methane emissions by 50%, and improve incomes by up to 30% We are grateful for our investors at Lightspeed India and Voyager Ventures, who co-led our $3 million funding round last year, and for the support from our incredible angel investors, friendly advisors, and the partners dedicated to supporting us on-ground. This investment allowed us to launch the first remote-sensing based solution for #rice methane monitoring and measurement, as well as to scale our operations across 7 key rice-growing states in India. We’re only getting started and have an incredibly passionate team working tirelessly to support small-holder rice farmers in adopting climate-smart practices across #India & #SoutheastAsia! 🌍 Did you know that Rice farming has emissions equivalent to the global Aviation industry? At MittiLabs, we’re reimagining rice projects from the ground up to develop the most transparent and trustworthy methane reduction programs - empowering companies to invest in nature confidently. What’s the potential impact? The environmental impact is huge - reducing methane emissions by 50% and water-use by 40%. But the benefits of our program extend far beyond climate. By connecting farmers to an additional carbon market revenue source, we’re able to uplift small-holder farmer livelihoods, increasing their income by over 30%. Our goals are ambitious but we are committed to putting our abilities to the most important cause of our generation. What started 1 year ago as a conversation between 3 co-founders at Harvard Innovation Labs is now a team of 14 passionate experts spanning science, technology, agronomy, and carbon markets. Thank you to our partners, our team, and our investors for your support and belief in our mission throughout 2023. This past year: 🔹 We've successfully launched pilots across five states in India, closely monitoring methane emissions and water usage, and gathering field data to train our AI models. 🔹 Our partnerships extend to industry giants like Syngenta and Ebro Foods S.A, as well as collaborations with on-ground partners like Dr Reddy's Foundation. 🔹 In our R&D efforts, we're developing AI models to track Rice farming practices with unparalleled accuracy at a national scale, while partnered with renowned rice researchers, including Cornell University and International Rice Research Institute, to create a first-of-its-kind process-model specifically designed for smallholder rice fields in India. As we dive into 2024, we're excited to continue our goal of healing our planet and improving the lives of countless smallholder farmers! -- Hemant Mohapatra, Sierra Peterson, Jake Kent, Matthew Blain, Romit Mehta, Lauren Singer, Julia Arnhold, Kelsey Rudin, George Serafeim, Mark Tercek, Sanjiv Rangrass, Greg Michel, Kieran Francis, CFA, Michael Taksyak, Gopal Erinjippurath, Sergi Bastardas, Zubin Bharti Mittal, Marc Abousleiman, Aarya S., John Mulliken, Vikram Gandhi, Suman s
