One of the best things about serving senior citizens is receiving the gift of their stories, memories, and histories, which enrich our lives and connect us to our past. Don and Marge Gens are residents at Crystal Seasons Assisted Living in Crystal Lake, MN who met at a roller rink in the '40s, courted for a few years, and decided to tie the knot "way back when," says Don. When asked for the secret to a long, healthy marriage, Don replied, "Say, 'Yes, Dear,'" and "At the end of the day, always make up. Never go to bed angry." Married for 80+ years and blessed with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, the Genses went for a ride with Jack York of Talegate, Jane Danner of Care Providers of Minnesota, KEYC News Now, Mankato Free Press, and the Lake Crystal Tribune yesterday to share their life story as part of Talegate's Vintage Voices U.S. Tour: ‘Untold Stories of the Greatest Generation.’ Their story will be published by Talegate in the coming months, but in the meantime, here are a few photos from the production and reception. 👇🏻👇🏻See the link in the first comment of this post for KEYC's coverage, and we'll be sure to share the Genses' story with you all when it's live! Thank you to all who made yesterday so special! 🧡🎥 Paxton Wiffler, Bill Chase, Heather Brekke, Leesa Gilman, Jessica Olson, Erin Schultz, Angie Mastin #seniorstories #seniorliving #storytelling
