We believe simpler, safer and more sustainable is the future.
About us
Since MonoSol’s founding in 1953, our business is helping people and the planet. With the power of water-soluble technology and our brilliant team of chemists, engineers and innovators, we create safer, simpler and more sustainable solutions for a range of industries. We constantly challenge our employees and customers to rethink what’s possible. Our technology has already revolutionized product categories like detergents, healthcare and agriculture. Recent advancements in our technology enables us to tackle packaging waste issues. Although MonoSol has expanded across the globe, we take pride in maintaining the entrepreneurial spirit from when we began with just one facility in Northwest Indiana. A lot has changed since 1953, but we’ve never lost the heart of close-knit, nimble and inventive company. We believe in each other, what we do and our power to do good for the world.

Join us at the upcoming poster session by Yash Parulekar, where we'll be delving into the crucial topic of biodegradation of materials in specific environmental compartments. Our session will shed light on the challenges of testing water-soluble materials, the importance of understanding test methods such as OECD 301, and the impact of these tests on regulations in the detergent industry. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and contribute to the conversation on environmental safety. See you at the poster session! #Sustainability #SEPAWACONRGESS2024

Nature-Based Films: Sooner Than You'd Think! MonoSol, A Kuraray Company provided an update at the American Chemistry Society Fall meeting on the progress we are making toward natural material films to complement our existing portfolio of water-soluble, biodegradable options. From bio-based PVA and natural material blends to 100% plant based films, MonoSol is leading the way to a safer, simpler and more sustainable waste-free future. Thanks to R C Ramaswamy, Dmitriy Davydovich, PhD and Tyberius Torres for leading our engagement as founding members of the ACS Natural Polymers Consortium.

The Journal of Environmental Pollution published a corrigendum (fancy word for correction) yesterday to a study on contaminants found in drinking water refill kiosks around Mexico City. The spectra labeled as polyvinyl alcohol in the original manuscript was subsequently shown to be cellulose instead. This correction is important because the original study was being cited by a company that is trying to clear the field of competition by actively lobbying to ban popular detergent products that rely on the safety, sustainability and performance attributes of water soluble, biodegradable PVA technology. We applaud the authors and the journal for making the correction. https://lnkd.in/gMppbUff

Challenge #1: Reduce single-use plastic items such as cutlery, straws, and bags by choosing reusable alternatives like stainless steel cutlery, bamboo straws and cloth bags. Challenge #2: Embrace sustainability by opting for office supplies made from recycled materials or eco-friendly alternatives such as refillable or bamboo pens and notebooks made from sustainably sourced materials. #PlasticFreeJuly #AFutureWithoutWaste
