Congratulations Allie!!!! We’re looking forward to you and the rest of our incoming class putting your own stamp on the mining industry!

Happy #IDWIM2024! It’s great to know that we have amazing alumni and students who are carrying on the diverse legacy started by Clara Clark and Isabel Little. Students like Kaitlynn Hahn, Jordan Niggemyer, Kylie Acord, Caitlin Kyseth, Claire Mbia are the future of our industry! We’re also proud to have Dr. Sarah Jones joining us this fall and the best Visiting Professor/Adjuncts around - Sonya Rosenthal and Dr. Amy Richins! And to top things off, our students are lucky to have the support of the best MG Mom around - Donna Conrad - thanks for all you do to support the future of mining!

While we are thrilled to celebrate all of our students, alumni and friends on this #IDWIM2024, we are excited to announce the newest member of the Montana Tech - Mining Engineering family - Dr. Sarah Jones! Sarah recently completed her PhD at CSM and has a wealth of industry experience that she’s looking forward to sharing with our future generations of students.

This was a busy weekend as 9 of our undergrads completed their degrees along with 4 graduate students but probably the biggest deal of all, Dr. Scott Rosenthal was hooded. As for our newest alumni, they're off exotic places like Eastern Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona. Oh I suppose I should note that a couple are braving the Alaskan Wilderness and two are off to explore the Western Australian Outback! We wish them all good luck and happy trails while hoping they stay in touch and share their adventures. Thanks for the good time everyone!

Twenty-one years ago, Dr. Paul Conrad and his family moved to Butte from Pennsylvania, by way of Kentucky. Since that time, Paul has been the cornerstone of our Mining Engineering department and has announced his planned retirement following this semester. Paul's contributions over the last 21 years are too numerous to list here, but we wanted to take a moment to thank him for everything he has done and continues to do to ensure Montana Tech produces the best, practical mining engineers in the industry. For the record, Donna says she has a few more years before she's ready to join him. For anyone who might be interested, the department has begun the recruiting process to fill the vacancy left by Paul's retirement. This is the first time in 10 years that Montana Tech - Mining Engineering has had a faculty vacancy so we are hoping for plenty of interest in filling the position.
