From #MCCCMember American Red Cross: People affected by Hurricane Helene need urgent help now, and we can’t do this alone. Less than two weeks after Helene washed away entire communities, another major storm is threatening the U.S. The American Red Cross is working around the clock with dozens of partners to continue supporting families upended by Helene, while also preparing for Hurricane Milton. Some 2,100 Red Crossers are working tirelessly in the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida to provide safe shelter, food, water and support to families struggling with unimaginable wreckage. We’re reaching more people every day. Today, more volunteers from the DMV deployed to Central Florida help set up and staff evacuation shelters in the Tampa area. Helene and Milton are examples of how extreme weather is becoming more frequent and intense. We maintain a strong backbone of trained disaster volunteers, a fleet of response vehicles and warehouses full of relief supplies across the country to stay ready to respond effectively to disasters of any size. People affected by Hurricane Helene need urgent help now, and we can’t do this alone. You can help by making a financial donation, an appointment to give blood or platelets, or signing up to become a volunteer by visiting redcross.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).
