We LOVE Parades! A BIG thank you to our employees and their families who came out and represented Morris Hospital in the Dwight Harvest Days Parade on Sunday. This amazing group didn’t let a little rain dampen their spirits, and we had a great time interacting with the community!

A HUGE thank you to our staff and all of the volunteers who helped us screen over 600 students for cardiac abnormalities today at Morris High School! The Rhythm of Our Youth program, which provides area students with a free, non-invasive cardiac EKG that screen for undiagnosed heart conditions is made possible thanks to the generous donations made to the Morris Hospital Foundation. Our next screening will be at Minooka High School South Campus on October 29 & 30!

What a heartfelt moment! Last weekend, Morris Hospital Orthopedic Surgeon and Stritch School of Medicine – Loyola University Chicago alumnus Dr. Raymond Meyer had the unique honor of participating in the White Coat Ceremony for the new class of medical students at his alma mater, which included his own son Raymond Meyer IV! This ceremony signifies a major milestone in the journey of medical students, and marks their formal induction into the medical profession. Dr. Meyer represented Morris Hospital with pride in his grey coat, and his participation is a testament to his commitment to nurturing the next generation of medical professionals. Congratulations to all the medical students who received their white coats!

CAN YOU BELIEVE these two both started working at Morris Hospital on this very day 45 years ago?!!! They sure did! Sue Brooks and Michelle Stewart both reported for their very first day as young CNAs in training on August 6, 1979. And here they are 45 years later, still taking care of our community – Sue today as Lead Licensed Practical Nurse in Occupational Medicine, and Michelle as Charge Registered Nurse in Surgery. We are so blessed to have passionate and dedicated employees like Sue and Michelle who make a lifelong commitment to Morris Hospital and our patients. Happy 45th anniversary!

We are keeping an eye on the Y! Over the past two days, our staff has been given the unique opportunity to tour the future Morris Hospital YMCA that is currently under construction at 2001 Dupont Avenue just down the street from Morris Elementary School. Led by @MorrisYMCA staff and Morris Hospital leaders, the tours highlighted the incredible progress being made and gave a feel for how the space will be allocated between the YMCA and Morris Hospital services. Simply put, the new Y is going to be fabulous! We can’t wait to provide services under the same roof as our YMCA community partner! Stay tuned for exciting updates as the opening gets closer!

Talk about talking healthcare to new heights! Thank you to Superior Air Med for stopping by the hospital main campus today to give the Emergency Department staff an opportunity to see the features used inside the helicopter when transporting patients by air. Since this was a planned, non-emergency landing that didn’t involve a patient transport, the ED staff had the opportunity to ask the crew questions and climb inside the helicopter themselves. Thank you, Superior Air Med, for this unique learning opportunity!
