Meet Whitney Benson, RN, the winner of the 10th annual Owl Award from the Jackson Chance Foundation, which helps families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) by covering financial costs. This award honors NICU team members in the Chicago area who make a difference in the lives of families. Whitney was nominated by the Mission family, who described her as a calming and supportive presence during one of the most difficult times in their lives. After their son was born prematurely at 24 weeks, Whitney provided gentle care, clear communication and reassurance that made them feel comforted and confident.
