Morris County Commissioner Christine Myers and Human Services Director Kasey Errico visited Plaid House in Morristown today to present a framed resolution honoring Neville Newton, who is retiring after more than 30 years of service. Founded in 1975 by Kate Merck, Plaid House was established to provide supportive housing for at-risk youth and is now one of the few remaining group homes for girls in New Jersey. Under Neville’s leadership, Plaid House has continued to offer a safe, nurturing environment, helping young women reunite with families or transition to independent living. Morris County thanks Neville for his dedication and service to the community and wishes him a fulfilling retirement! #MorrisCounty #PlaidHouse

Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp, by the Soviet Red Army on Jan. 27, 1945. We join the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in pausing today -- International #HolocaustRemembranceDay, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau -- to honor the memory of Jewish people targeted for annihilation by the Nazis in Europe. https://ow.ly/JPVp50UNZJX

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (ESU) and the Morris Township Fire Department endured below-freezing temperatures at Sunrise Lake in Lewis Morris County Park this week to conduct a critical ice rescue training drill, focused on enhancing emergency preparedness and ensuring first responders are ready to save lives when every second counts. “Morris County residents deserve the highest level of protection, and that means training under real-world conditions,” said Sheriff James M. Gannon. “It’s zero degrees, and we’re out here testing our specialized equipment and honing our skills because emergencies don’t wait for ideal circumstances. Our mission is to save lives, and today’s collaboration with the Morris Township Fire Department strengthens that commitment.” https://ow.ly/AZrw50UMT2e

The Morris County Board of County Commissioners was deeply saddened to learn today of the passing of Rabbi Moshe Herson, so soon after the loss of his dear wife, Pearl, just a few weeks ago. Rabbi Herson, as Director of Chabad of New Jersey and Dean of the Rabbinical College in Morristown, has been the emissary of his faith in the Garden State for decades. In Morris County, he also has served as an unfaltering leader among our Jewish residents and a powerful force for goodness throughout our community for more than 60 years. Rabbi Herson will be deeply missed by all of us, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
